To me, anything that doesn't need an MOT when you buy it is "nearly new".

At the moment my "new" car is 9 years old. The old one is 15 years old.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

    How does it go?
"You've lost the VAT as soon as you drive it off the forecourt."
So £12000 car is immediately. a £10000 car for the sake of argument.
And a year's use to take off as well.

We buy any old car offer around £8,500 for one of those... £10K in a private sale is probably tops.

From recent experience of selling a 1 year old DS3

Local Main Dealer - offered £10k
Tootle (an online site that advertises to Dealers) - offered £10.5k

Eventually part exchanged it against a new car and 'got' £11.25k

Mmmmm, well it’s smoke and mirrors because you didn’t get anything for it. There was obviously £1250 wriggle room on the new car.
