Well done re the washing machine costs and I guess with the old one being 15 yo, it didn't really owe you anything. Good news on the broadband too, well worth the phone call.

What a pain re the mess the tenant left. My sister rents a flat out and has had some great tenants and some who have left the place in a really appalling state.
  • Wow that is impressive about the washing machine. Your broadband savings will probably pay for that pretty quickly.

Would like to say I can't believe how your tenant left the house but I can't really. Don't understand how some people can treat where they live like that. Hope your DH is able to sort it all quickly so you can rent it out again.

I honestly can't see how people do it either. My sister has always lived in rented and we scrub her house before she hands the keys over to make sure 1) it's clean for the next person and 2) she gets her security deposit back. But hey ho. It is what it is.

My new washing machine is being delivered today. I was offered a delivery slot of 7am-6pm or I could pay extra to have a 2 hour delivery window. I refused to pay the extra and I'm so pleased I did as last night I received a text from the company giving me a 2 hour delivery window for today!! So I didn't pay any extra and I don't have to stay in all day! Woohoo! The driver will apparently ring me an hour before delivery too.

Our washing machine ended up arriving before the designated delivery time but the delivery driver rang me half an hour beforehand to check it was okay. They were really lovely too. Only downside was actually catching up with the washing that had piled up but I am pretty much there now.

My 5% regular saver paid the interest into my account over the weekend so that has been moved elsewhere, account has been closed (interest rate bottomed out) and a new 5% regular saver opened. I have made the first deposit, not as much as I'd hoped due to having to spend money on the rental property but it's a start.

Thank Beanie. It's silly how happy a new washing machine has made me. I'm also pleased that it's only the second one I've ever bought so here's hoping this one lasts 15 years too!

I can't sleep tonight. My mind is racing. There is so much going on with our finances, families, kids and health that I just don't know where to start. Everything has seemed to come together tonight. Whether it's because DH is away and I'm on my own with space to think about things once the kids are in bed I really don't know? I'm sure everything will work out fine. I think I may have a brain dump into my bullet journal thing, see if that helps.

I'm trying to wait patiently for pay day but it seems so long since the last one. I really don't see why employers don't pay their staff on the same date in December. Is there really any need to pay it before Christmas, possibly a week earlier than normal?

    Hi Starnac,

I hope you managed to get some sleep in the end! Nothing worse than the brain kicking in and causing worry about all these things we have no control over, or very little control over or even things we cannot change in the moment! January seems to be having this effect on me too!

It makes no sense to me either, pay day is when pay day is! Keep it there as Jan is a massive month otherwise! I move December pay into another account until when payday should be!

Congrats on having a wonderfully artistic family! Impressive!
