How about using the proceeds of the sale to build a granny annex on one of your children's homes or pool resources to buy a larger home to share?
They are both in rented flats, so not really an option. Does everyone think my children are that seriously loaded that they would have a place big enough to build a granny annex on it??
Get real springs to mind. :rotfl:

I think by quite a few of the comments, that a lot of you have not read my post properly or you would not be making the suggestions that you are.

    A gypsy?? No thanks :rotfl:

Not a 'gypsy', many of these 'caravans' are like bungalows, the parks are on lovely sites and the permanent residents form a good community. No-one is suggesting hitching up a caravan and parking in lay-bys!
    It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
    'Wonder' - to feel curious.

You own 62% of a prop in Cornwall?
So sell that 62% and get a lower % of a property in SE?

For example if your place in Cornwall is worth 100k, then the 62% is worth 62k. Buy a place in SE for 300k you'll own 20%. But it's still worth 62k.

The money will still be there then for their inheritance!!

Do you practice being this rude or does it come naturally?

None of your posts would make the suggestion silly. You say your children have good jobs and you don't mention them being in rentals.

Get real? How about you get real thinking you can just give your money away and then get benefits...

Yup, sounds a fine idea to me :D

Clearly we have all missed the point. The state owes the OP a living for no other reason than that it suits her.

How do you know how old I am?

Because you are "approaching the age" that "retirement" flats are available to you, and that age is most commonly 55.

This was tried 400 years ago, where a father gave away assets to two of his three children. It did not turn out well.

Sounds like an insane idea to me.
