Missed transfer bus to hotel

Hi,
I hope this is the right thread to join, I can't find this precise topic.
My daughter and friend booked package to Spain last week.
The flight to Barcelona was delayed 2hours 40min, so no compensation for that but can they claim €140 taxi they had to take in middle of night as desk shut and when they phoned they were told the last coach had left?

They can try of course but the airline is under no obligation to reimburse them. Travel insurance may be a better option, depending on what the policy covers.
