Old Style Daily Tuesday 26th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Much as I love the weather we are having, it is too hot for me to sleep so I have given up and got up. I’m having a wander around the internet and then I’m going to read for a while.
I’m planning on doing much the same today as I have for the past few days. I’m going to get the train to the seaside this morning, although I may go somewhere different for a change. I am lucky to have such a good choice of places I can easily get to by train.
I was going to take a picnic but as it is so hot at the moment I worry about things getting too warm and the risk of food poisoning, so I think I will probably treat myself to lunch somewhere, or call into a supermarket for a sandwich when I’m there. I will have to have obligatory ice cream though.
When I got back home yesterday evening I gave the kitchen a really good clean and had a quick vacuum through. When I get home tonight I will deep clean the bathroom. I prefer to make the most of the weather during the day and do the housework when it is cooler in the evening.
Dinner will be something quick that requires minimal effort when I get back this evening. I will have a look in the freezer later and see what is in there to go with salad and a jacket potato or oven chips.
Congratulations Gers, I’m so pleased that it went so well. I hope that you had a nice chilled evening recovering with a very large drink.
I’m sorry that Mr TA is still losing weight TA. I hope that the doctor was able to come up with something to help.
Csarina I am sorry to hear about your DGD, I hope that she soon starts to improve.
Nelski, enjoy the sunshine and take it easy, don’t try to rush things.
RosyRed It sounds like you had a really nice weekend. I hope that your DGD is feeling better today.
That’s a nice weekend for you to look forward to JackieO, a good catch up with excellent company and somewhere that you know the food is good.
Have a good Tuesday everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning All
Another hot day in store here, the birds must know as they are very vocal this morning.
I had a tough morning yesterday, first of all a warning light and alarm came on in the car to say the coolant was low, I put water in and hoped for the best! Got to the pool for 7 and there was no manager so the place couldn't open, had to phone DD and use their facilities. Although I had had a shower before I went my hair was like Freddie Boswells! They don't have a shower at the moment so had to use a jug over the bath!
Work was unbelievably busy, parents complaining, children fighting, parents shouting at children that weren't theirs, completely bonkers. Anyway, I gave up at 3.30 and went to yoga.
DS1 hit a rock in the road and knocked the sump from under his car so he had to get towed off the motorway, an expensive repair for him. If my car is ok (going to garage today) he's going to borrow it as I can manage on the train. So many problems for a Monday!
So pleased you got all greens Gers, well done.
Hope your DGD makes a speedy recovery Csarina.
Have a good seaside day Holly.
Hugs to you and the Mr TA.
Anyone seen tru? Missing our updates of Scampi.
Here's hoping Tuesday is better than Monday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning, it is only 6 and already hot, the skies are clear so another lovely day.
Deleted_User I'm sending positive vibes for your daughter and also positive thoughts for Mr TA.
I've been doing quite a bit of proper cleaning rather than the lick and promise, I've separated it into jobs and am just focusing on one or two each day. Then the rest of the day is mine to enjoy.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Hot and sunny already. Wash load ready to peg out on the line, will do that shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and veg, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with breaded chicken portion for the menfolk.
Yesterday work was rather manic, started very slow then went really busy and then eased off, but the telephones were ringing off the hooks all day, I did that job in the afternoon and we had calls stacked all day was just relentless. Doing a different job today so we'll see how that goes. On holiday count down now - so just taking it a day at a time, won't be long before holiday day arrives.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I slept better than I expected to as it felt so hot in the bedroom last night.
BEENTHERE-DONETHAT I was wondering how you were. Good news re the hospital result, All that worry is now behind you. CSARINA so sorry to hear about your DGD. Always a worry for someone isn't there?
I got an appointment for Mr TA yesterday and a different doctor yet again re the gastroparesis. There is no continuity these days and you have to go over the symptoms all over again with each different doctor. Anyway this one was the most thorough yet and agrees with the diagnosis. As there is no cure (we already knew that) he said he will work on easing the symptoms, by trial and error really, and see if he can find something to help. So another new tablet to try. He asked Mr TA what outcome he hoped for and he replied he just wanted to be able to eat something with a knife and fork! He is fed up of nutritional drinks and shakes, and the likes of soup and rice pudding. I can't see that happening really but an ease of the pain in his stomach and round his midriff would be a bonus. He has problems enough without this latest one.
Another scorcher for most of us yet again so another day of s*d the housework for me and I will be back outside under the sunshade with my book. The housework can wait until it rains but I suppose I had better exert myself slightly and do a bit of washing and get that pegged out first!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. SILVER-OLDIE and TRU have both disappeared I hope all is ok with them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

redruby I always have a bird water dish on my allotment, along with the pond which has a slopey bit, but can't at home as our cat would just haunt a birdbath in the back or front yard (and probably invite her furry mates around for playtime)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

RR I top up the water bowl daily, when I top up the feeders, but I very rarely see any birdies drinking from it. I think there must be a better water supply elsewhere! There was a right squabbling noise out there earlier and I expected it to be the starlings but, when I looked i,t was the magpies having a go at each other. The woodpigeon, bless him, was looking quite alarmed by the racket!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Good morning everyone :hello:
It is scorchio this morning and only forecast to get hotter. I am avoiding going out purely because I turn into a puddle but I have to get Lee's meds this afternoon if they are at Boots. I will ring before I leave to save myself a journey if they are not there.
My friend is coming round this morning so I will have to evict the two teenagers currently kipping in the living room so I can have a bit of a tidy up. It will be lovely to see her and put the world to rights over a cuppa.
I will be making a ham and pineapple pasta bake for dinner tonight. I made a huge coronation chicken pasta dish to do for lunches over the next few days but when I got up this morning the teens had scoffed it all . Oh well, it must have been tasty :rotfl:.
I have some shopping coming at 9 ish so the teens can earn their keep and put it all away for me. It's mostly fresh fruit and veg as it doesn't keep for very long in this hot weather.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0
