Parking Eye - Morrisons Supermarket

ParkingEye have stung a family member for overstaying. I believe the limit is 3hrs, letter states 3hrs 39mins. Photo of vehicle with timestamps included in letter.

Payment is £50 within 14 days or £85 thereafter. A purchase was made from Morrisons on the day. Is there any leg to stand on?

Advice and comments welcomed.

Thank you.

    yes

first task is this KEEPER complains by email to donotreply @ morrissons email address with a strong letter of complaint and add copies of receipts or redacted bank statement (or match and more card) showing proof of patronage and insisting on a cancellation

if this fails , appeal using the template as keeper on the PE website before the 28 day appeal window closes

do not reveal who was driving , not to anyone

the keeper complains as an "occupant of the vehicle" only

the keeper appeals , as keeper , using just the template letter , with any proof of patronage that does not dob in the driver

and you all need to read that NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread you missed

I popped into Morrison's when I got a charge from PE, they happily cancelled it for me - I didn't have a receipt but I showed them the entry on my online banking app. No problems at all.

This was Morrison's Aldershot Westgate if anyone's doing a search!
Really should be doing some work...

Sent the following to Morrisons email.
Response was "I have transferred your case to the relevant department with case reference number"

Should I submit the template as keeper on the PE website at this time also?
    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Parking Eye Reference No.

I went shopping at Morrisons Guisborough on 16/06/2018 at 12:29. I have always preferred to use Morrisons due to the excellent quality of fish and meat services over your competitors.

As a regular customer to Morrisons I was shocked to receive a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye telling me that I have been charged £85 for overstaying in the carpark. I was confused as to how they had come up with this extortionate amount so I am appealing straight to yourself to review this case.

Although I don't still have the receipts, I do have my bank statements showing that I am a regular shopper to that particular store. Should you require sight of them I would be happy to send you copies.

I am now been hounded by Parking Eye and they have gone as far as to threaten court proceedings against me! Had I known the situation I find myself in now I would never have chosen Morrisons to do my shopping. I find it outrageous that a store of Morrison's size and excellent reputation can allow this blatant harassment of its customers to continue.

As a loyal customer of Morrisons Supermarket I am disappointed that this is allowed to happen and I would appreciate it if the store could ask your agent - Parking Eye to cancel this Parking Charge. You will understand that I am reluctant to do my shopping at Morrisons again until the charge has been cancelled.

As said, I would be grateful for your assistance in this matter.

How much time do you have left until the PE 28-day deadline? If plenty of time, Ms will likely have turned this around in the next few days, so you could wait.

But, in the event of any delay by Ms, do not fall asleep on making the appeal to PE by their deadline. They sue.

I presume it's correct if you've done the calculation. Obviously don't chance going up to the wire on it, but Ms will sort this out hopefully well before this.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.

Response this morning from MS, should I expect a letter of confirmation from Parking Eye?
    Good morning,

I am pleased to confirm that we have issued instructions for this Parking Charge Notice to be cancelled.

Unfortunately due to the abuse we have on these car parks we have to have these controls in place but we are happy to look at, and cancel where necessary.

Thank you once again for getting in touch and please come back and see us soon.
