NEW Sky TV customer deals

Hi,

Been looking around for new Sky TV customer deals, but I'm struggling to find anything as most of the discussion is for existing customer renewals. I'm aware there was a bit of a price restructure last year and discounts aren't as heavy, but is anyone aware of any methods to get discount as a new customer?

I'm after: Sky Q Entertainment package with HD and Multiscreen.

Seems like there's no cashback or codes I can find!

Thanks,
Chris

There already is a £5 discount for new customers, good luck in getting anymore than that. The 2GB box is "only" £65 against £20 for the 1GB box at the moment (pretty sure it was more than that previously).

Actually this thread reminded me of something I've mean mulling over since they gave us the GDPR training at work.

If you ask Sky (for instance) to "forget you" they have to do this within the month (from memory). This would make you a "new customer" with them. Is this why there's not much in the way of great introductory deals now? It would explain Sky's restructuring and general lowering of the TV base package price (although the add-ons bounce it back up).

You've completely misunderstood GDPR I'm afraid.

Highly doubtful. Forgetting GDPR, existing customer offers are usually much better than new customer offers with Sky. Only occasionally do they have 50% off for new customers, but that is a standard offering for existing customers who indicate they are leaving.

Also, the 'right to erasure' is not an absolute right. I'm sure it's not difficult for Sky to show that within the 12 months after you cease to be a customer, it is still important for them to keep your details for numerous reasons.

Certainly they'll be able to keep a record of a cancelled account in order to prevent anyone fraudulently signing up as a "new" customer. I agree GDPR won't facilitate such activity.

However, while I agree existing customer deals can be very generous, not everyone is aware of that and there have been regular posts by users considering signing on as a "new" customer in order to get new customer deals.
