I think I'm done here, I'll go seek advice on another forum where people aren't looking to inflate their egos and score points. Cheers all.
Try screwfix forum, lovely bunch of patient, knowledgeable people. Happy to share advice without judgement.:TSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
Well, I liked the gossip. I thought it added colour to the story, and showed context that was relevant to why OP might feel there was a real risk the neighbours would go ahead with the work without consultation.
Me too! and even if I didn't I would just ignore that part rather than make comments about it0 -

I chose to comment instead of ignoring the entire post for the OP to have had no help at all. I had misgivings that the OP's own attitude towards their neighbours might be fuelling the fire. I think my gut was correct, given the number of people they've thrown insults at.
The post was made two days ago and the only person to offer actual advice throughout it was me so the OP is better off, despite their temper, for having it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Pity you can't take it back and are now continuing with your nasty little digs hinting that I'm the cause of the problem. For someone so concerned about how people should "stick to the facts", you seem keen to keep dishing out the irrelevant nastiness..0

If they did go to remove the chimney, it would be done before any injunction could be gained.
When one is talking about the PWA and the buildings involved are domestic, there is no opportunity for injunctions. The timeframes are too short.
Since the builder is more sympathetic to the neighbour than their employer, just get the builder to drill a hole, then the work has started and an injunction can be sought.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Drill a hole where? Drilling a hole doesn't fall under the PWA.
OP doesn't want to answer questions about whether the chimney breast is in bad condition anyway and that is the most poignant question.
If the neighbour has removed chimney breasts then there's no reason for them to want to remove the stack unless it's already in poor condition and they want to avoid future maintenance costs for something they don't use. If I were the only neighbour using the chimney stack, then I would personally feel compelled to pay for the repairs.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
