Thanks Tea! The larger savings amounts have only started coming in the last couple of months, since I was promoted and we paid the loan off. We've been playing the long game for so long, it feels unnatural to have a good amount of disposable income again. We want to use it wisely (i.e. for our house plans while saving at the same time) and not just go crazy spending.

Monz, we're looking at 50k for the build (excluding kitchen) for a 30m sq extension. We've got a sloping garden so it requires a lot of under-build and we're doing a few things away from standard which of course adds to the cost. Hence why we're trying to release some equity alongside privately financing. Eek!

Making progress - house was re-valued today, docs were uploaded etc. so it's just a waiting game now. Hoping to get it tied up this week so that we can properly schedule things and start panicking!

Wow £50k I never knew it to be so expensive.  My house would never be able to get an extension being a mid terrace, maybe a conservatory.  I am ok though the house is big enough for me and my boy thankfully :) xx

Woohoo! It must have seemed never ending at times but you'll be there before you know it now. Only downside is it means they're growing up - although that's not so bad really :) Think if you could birth them from about 5 years up I'd have had lots more lol. xx

Yeah, it's pretty painful! We were hoping to do the whole thing including kitchen for this, but it's grown arms and legs as these things do. I've spent quite a bit of time aligning our plan, we just need to hear back from the bank to decide if/ when we can move forward.

Our house is big enough for the four of us as it is, but we're replacing a hideously old, leaky conservatory. So not actually gaining a huge amount of sq m but it'll be functional at least :)

Oh me too. There's no way I could go back to the baby stage now and I'm still fairly young child bearing wise (i.e. many of my friends don't have kids yet). The sleepless nights, the toilet training, the childcare costs... I'm happy with my lot and all the better that the nursery thievery is coming to an end!

Thanks for stopping by Timps - sending all the good MOT luck your way! Maybe it'll surprise you?

Glad to have given you some debt clearing inspiration. Most of the time I'm just flip flopping my way through it, hoping for the best but it's stood me in good stead so far.

It's just scary taking out another huge chunk of debt when we're in the home straight of getting it paid off but I know it's the right thing to do and we are comfortable with it. Just need to keep on keeping on :)
