Thanks Tea! The larger savings amounts have only started coming in the last couple of months, since I was promoted and we paid the loan off. We've been playing the long game for so long, it feels unnatural to have a good amount of disposable income again. We want to use it wisely (i.e. for our house plans while saving at the same time) and not just go crazy spending.
Monz, we're looking at 50k for the build (excluding kitchen) for a 30m sq extension. We've got a sloping garden so it requires a lot of under-build and we're doing a few things away from standard which of course adds to the cost. Hence why we're trying to release some equity alongside privately financing. Eek!
Making progress - house was re-valued today, docs were uploaded etc. so it's just a waiting game now. Hoping to get it tied up this week so that we can properly schedule things and start panicking!Sealed Pot Challenge 075

Hi Homegrown
Been reading up on your diary these last few days.
I'm asking you to send me some good MOT luck as my car is due to go in fairly soon and I don't think it's going to be pretty!!!
You're doing really well on your debt repayments and you've given me some ideas of how to get mine sorted too.
Watching with interest!!

Wow £50k I never knew it to be so expensive. My house would never be able to get an extension being a mid terrace, maybe a conservatory. I am ok though the house is big enough for me and my boy thankfully

Our house is big enough for the four of us as it is, but we're replacing a hideously old, leaky conservatory. So not actually gaining a huge amount of sq m but it'll be functional at leastSealed Pot Challenge 075

Glad to have given you some debt clearing inspiration. Most of the time I'm just flip flopping my way through it, hoping for the best but it's stood me in good stead so far.
It's just scary taking out another huge chunk of debt when we're in the home straight of getting it paid off but I know it's the right thing to do and we are comfortable with it. Just need to keep on keeping onSealed Pot Challenge 075
