Because it's the only discussion thread on the ISE HC1100 when you search for HC1100. Why create an extra thread when it's all in one place.

In Sink Erator is an American company, and they had some erosion problems with the HC1100 in America, which they claimed to have solved by using a different material for the tank. I put one in my kitchen around 2009 (in UK), and was very happy with it. About a year ago, the RCD breaker (earth leakage, not Live to Neutral) started tripping, which cut power to ALL the sockets in the house. The problem was, it happened totally at random, and the short seemed to disappear immediately, so the RCD breaker stays ON when you flip it back. It does mean that if I go on holiday, I could come back to find a defrosted freezer. Luckily, it didn't trip in June, when I did go away for a week.

I had this symptom with my Siemens oven before, which was fixed by replacing the heating element. That was a persistent trip, so easy to trace. This time it was totally elusive.

Eventually, I bought a new oven. And it tripped even more!?
Fortunately, the longer persistence of the trip allowed me to track it down to the HC1100 as the true culprit.

Called up ISE's UK service agent, and they said they knew there was a problem, that there was a bad batch, so the two year warranty had been extended to three year. Sods law, I am JUST OUTSIDE this window, by three weeks:eek: Fortunately, ISE was a good sport, and replaced it free of charge. Otherwise, I would have to pay a reduced amount for just the tank.

One thing I noticed when the engineer drained the old tank for transport, is how much lime scale there is, despite the filter.
I will definitely be draining the tank once a year in future.

It probably costs £50 to make, and £450 is profit, but it really is convenient and life enhancing, and if you can afford it, get one.

Thats hardly a resonable excuse for resurrecting a thread that hasn't been contributed to for two years though and commenting on the 2010 comment! Some silly sod will now come along and answer Post Number 1 all over again because they won't have read the date and that will be helpful to nobody.

TBH it doesn't matter if its the same issue because all that happens is the thread gets hijacked and diverted. New problem = new thread. Simples. Squeek!

    Cheers
