New toilet won't flush paper

Options
I'm having some problems with my new toilet, recently fitted as part of a new bathroom (old one completely pulled out, toilet was replaced in same/similar position)

It won't flush toilet paper! There's not much paper in there, but it's not going anywhere!

It's a concealed dual flush cistern, installed in an upstairs bathroom
https://soak.com/en-gb/toilets-and-basins/plumbing-and-fittings/front-access-concealed-cistern/2001360.html?q=Front%20access

When I mentioned to the plumber, he said it's just the way new cisterns are (smaller) and to press and hold both buttons... but this hasn't helped! In its current state, the toilet is practically unusable!

Is there anything I can try to resolve? Should I call plumber back? (Although he seems convinced it's just "one of those things") Or a different plumber?

Thanks for any help!

I can't really help, only commiserate! Our dual flush loo has a terrible flush. It's not only the volume of water, the flush pattern seems very poor. We often have to resort to throwing a good quantity of extra water down the loo as we flush.
It's definitely something we will look into more thoroughly for our next bathroom

I would suggest first confirming that the cistern is filling up to the correct level. If that is okay I'd reject the toilet as unfit for purpose.

Have you checked to cistern to see if they (with their green hats on) have fitted a water limiter?
  • Sorry to be a complete novice here - but how do I check these things please?

Sounds like you have got one of these new fangled 'paperless' cisterns :D

I couldn't find fitting instructions for the cistern, though this appears to be it

Is it the PNEU COMPACT II ?

From the picture there, the red part is what controls the height of water.

Perhaps ask the plumber to set the water height and if that doesn't work seek to get a replacement. The cistern gets good reviews across several sites so the fault would therefore seem to lie with the toilet pan.

The water height needs adjusting to its maximum.

Or you need to eat less.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

How can it be `just one of those things` for a toilet not to do what it is intended to do....flush. Its a bit like getting a new oven which does not cook your food and being told thats how ovens are these days..

Maybe a different plumber? - good luck and hope you get it sorted.

You might have bought an Asian market toilet that isn't designed to flush paper. Did you buy it cheap?
