When did you last change the battery?
My guess is on wiring and voltage as well. Check the grounds on the battery and alternator.0 -
As above, try cleaning the idle control valve and throttle body.0

16 year old French car is going to have 16 year old French car problems which include lots of electrical gremlins. If it hasn't been particularly well serviced it'll start to go through oil as well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Not much help to you but somewhere I worked in 2007 had a works Clio that did exactly the same thing. It completely stranded me in the middle of a 4 lane roundabout in London, not even a dashboard light. Then it came back on. It also had a power steering problem which made the wheel continually do a 1/8 turn to the right unless you held on to it, and it accelerated on its own when pulling away from junctions due to come baffling problem with the throttle.
In spite of all this it was a fun little drive, but I would never ever own a Renault because of it.0
