Buying a new build and selling at the same time

After reading a couple of conversation, I sort of got the answer I was looking for but still got few questions.
So, looking to buy a new build but seems difficult when you have got property to sell at the same time as well. I spoke to the sales consultant and they told me that the our current house needs to be agreed to buy before we can reserve the new build.
Now the new houses won’t be built until mid-2019 and I have been told that they will know the prices and more info by Sep-2018. If they make the new houses avaible to reserve from Sep-18 then we probably got no hope of getting it unless they don’t sell well.
I know we got to be a proceedable buyer in order to reserve one but how the hell Im going to do that when the houses will be available to reserve from Sep-18 but only be ready by mid-19. The sales consultant says that I could rent or go live with family or friends but it’s not convienent with 2 kids and loads of furnitures. Have anyone been on this situation and have got an alternative solution?
I was thinking to say to the sales consultant that if it would be possible to reserve the house on Sep-18 and put our house on the market at the beginning of the year to allow time to find the buyer so the timing could work but I feel that its a no no.:(
Thanks
AG

They said the same thing to us so it was a no-go. Our friend had to move back in with her parents for six months, which was a pain but at least it was only two of them and no children.
You could try part exchange if they offer it? Otherwise I think it would just be a hope that timings work together with finding a buyer and reserving, or waiting until they are already built and seeing if things fall together then, although that will obviously limit your choice of plot etc0 -
it's not convienent with 2 kids and loads of furnitures
Unfortunately those are your options, as you're unlikely to find a buyer willing to be messed around by your builder's timescales.
If you want it to be more convenient, buy a house which is already built.0 -
You could discuss this with some local EAs, to see if they see any hope of finding a buyer with the flexibility you need. (But the problem is that some EAs might mislead you for their own sneaky reasons.)
If your house is suitable for an FTB, maybe the proposition "I'll sell cheaply, if you're prepared to be very patient and very flexible on completion dates" might work.
But there are risks for both parties.0
