Poorly fitted boiler advice needed

We had an extension done about 11 years ago and have just found out that the boiler was wrongly installed on the boundary wall. the vent slightly overhangs into neighbour s property which is about 1metre away from their wall and the steam blows around near their door. The neighbours after all these years have decided to complain now..
Are the installers responsible? Surely, even after this time it is their fault due to it being fitted not inline with guidelines. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that the regulations haven't changed in 11 year?
Are they still trading?
If they are still trading, I would suggest you call them up, explain the problem and negotiate a deal where you pay them part of the cost to move the flue. It's not fair you should have to pay at all, but I think you will get the problem sorted much more easily if you don't suggest they are in the wrong (even though you know they are...)The comments I post are my personal opinion. can you install a plume venting kit to redirect the steam? we have one on our boiler outlet on outside wall0

Are you sure it's incorrectly installed or have the neighbours told you that?
In 2005 I had a new boiler installed by british gas, my neighbour complained that the steam was near his back door and I got BG back who told him it was correctly installed.0 -

Flue should be a min of 600mm away from the boundaryI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

These were sort of the regs but after 11 years trying to get the original installer to rectify without a full charge you'd have more chance buying jackpot winning lottery ticket ....0 -

That was the regs not sort of, from the op description I'm guessing the flue is straight out the wall & not coming out at an angle, so therefore it's 600mm to the boundary or if it's facing an opening then this is 2m from flue to the openingI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Yes the installer is responsible but you are accountable. Hopefully your neighbours will agree to a diverted solution. If they don't, you face the expense of having your boiler relocated.0 -

The help is unlikely to be what you want to hear. The boiler was fitted to your design of extension, overseen by you, and signed off (in effect) by you Had you been unhappy 11 years ago you would have refused to pay, or more likely paid for re-siting.
But be realistic here, an extension has four walls because without these it cannot be a room. You chose to have the boiler designed and fitted on an unsuitable wall. Forget Regulations, because this is simply un neighbourly conduct. The fact that you have allowed this to persist for 11 years shows that you have tolerant neighbours until now. The solution is to investiagte what is happening and if in any way a nuisance then pay to get to grips with it.
Then remember the golden rule - the installers were fitting the boiler to your instructions. Why would they not? And you paid them to do this. So you are responsible.0
