  • I really like Mr S for online - recently tried Mr A, and very disappointed with the massive number of substitutions, and the general demeanour of the delivery men.

    Thinking of you MeandO
  • Out of the normal supermarkets I find Tesco and Morrisons the best for delivery. I usually get Tesco because a lot of their own brand stuff is the same price as Aldi.

Thanks all. I very rarely do an online shop as it’s only DS and I and I rarely spend enough for the minimum basket charge these days as I don’t really do the big shop much anymore. I usually shop around in home bargains etc for household stuff etc when I do need to stock up too. I only did it for the voucher, but won’t be doing it again, it was shocking quality unfortunately.

Moguline, they tried to refund me in ‘credit’ vouchers first too but I replied saying I won’t be using them again and to please refund to the card I used which they did in fairness. May be worth an email if it was for a considerable amount.

Life’s still not playing fair with no signs of improvement in any of the situations I’m currently juggling or trying to wade through, but I’m trying to keep the financial side of things positive at least.
Saying that, I managed to grandly c*ck up my budget with, what I thought was a council tax free month this month, but turns out it’s paid in arrears and not in advance, so it came out of my account today despite me already putting the money towards savings, the cc and other budget categories. I’ve ‘borrowed’ it from another pot for now and can pay it back when it really is a council tax free month next month.

Tonight I’ve made the new monthly budgeted mortgage OP of £50.
The mortgage now stands at £101,450. It will be satisfying when it gets to under the £100k mark, although that just means I’m back to where I was 6 years ago (although now a lot fatter, more unfit, unhappier and with substantially less money coming in.:()

I’ve topped up DS’s dinner money account by £25; paid £20 for various school trips and need to pay another £3.50 tomorrow for a different school event (they’ve started with the demanding of money early this year :().

The tax credits should be paid in tomorrow so the budget will look a bit better then. Well, everything will be covered, at least.

£14.69 has reached my bank account, transferred from a paypal sale I forgot about. That’s going towards the YNAB renewal fee which is due in a week or so. $45 - whatever that is exchanged to - but worth every penny for me.

    Xx

Today brought me a nail in my new(ish) car tyre on the way to work, in a place where it couldn’t be fixed, so I had to buy another (£66.80) :( Thanks Wednesday, just what I needed. There is just enough to cover it in the relevant pot, but the house insurance will have to be paid via the credit card until I can repay it with the non council tax payment next month.

I had a terrible night’s sleep last night, the worst in a long time, so I’m feeling pretty zombie-like today. I had ear ache which has continued into today and it seems I have completely run out of any forms of painkiller other than kid’s paracetamol. What with the car situation today, I have had absolutely no time or transport to get to a shop either, so I hope to goodness I don’t suffer with it again tonight, I need some sleep. I am on the edge of being able to cope with the tiredness now.

Another of DS’s birthday gifts arrived today. I have to pick a couple of
others up tomorrow. I also have OH’s birthday coming up too which I’ve more or less sorted now. I haven’t bought him much but he understands I don’t have much spare cash and he really doesn’t need or want a thing.

I’ve tackled a few sewing repairs this week and fixed a pair of jeans of mine, a pair of OH’s and a pair of my pyjama bottoms. It was one of those jobs I’d been putting off for ages as I dislike doing it, so was glad to get them mended. Hopefully they’ll all last a bit longer now.

It’s been one of those frustrating days today. I’ve chased solicitors for repeatedly not doing what they say they will, customer services for trying to get them to fixbroken things that shouldn’t be broken in a new house  and had a frustrating phonecall with my parents regarding refusal to seek medical attention when it’s obviously needed. Ever feel like you’re tired of constantly dealing with everything? :(

Thank you Moguline and HSL2 xx

I’ve had another round with the builders today. I haven’t been able to get into my garage for 5 weeks - the mechanism is broken - it has already cost me in excess of £50 in replacing things we’ve needed that are stuck in there, the latest were DS’s wellies which he needs for a school trip tomorrow (£10.50 spent on those today :().
The builders couldn’t get in there either, so suggested knocking a hole through the garage wall, opening the door and then rebuilding the garage. I kid you not. I’ve just about had all I can take of this place. Sometimes I feel I would have been better off staying in the last house and throwing more money at the structural issues. I wish I had.

Trying so hard to find a little ray of positivity in life at the moment, but I’m struggling. The situation regarding the ex that I can’t mention on here yet is really enveloping me with stress to the point that I’m having nightmares about it. I just wish he’d do the right thing for once in his life but that will never happen voluntarily. I hope it is sorted soon, I can’t take much more if it. It is also something that is affecting my parents and that I will never forgive him for.

Anyway, little steps - shopmium refunded me £2, so I rounded it up and paid £5.68 off the mortgage bringing it down to a rounded £101,120.
I’m going to look at trying to make more money this month via eBay or fb. I have a few small bits put aside to sell, nothing of major value, but even little bits paid off would boost my mood atm.

Oh, I paid the house insurance today - £127 ish - but have had to put it on the credit card thanks to the council tax c^ck up and nail in the tyre depleting my house and car pot. It will be paid off at the end of the month with the council tax free period.

Lunches are made for both of us for tomorrow, determined not to have any incidental spends. Every penny helps at the moment.
