Thank you Mrs Money Penny and Aspiration. I was really hoping to have moved by now but there’s been various hold ups from different parties in the chain and there’s still no exchange date in sight. Hopefully it will be soon, it’s been pretty stressful and we are currently living surrounded by boxes and most of the packing is done so it feels like we’re living in limbo at the moment. I’ve gone as far as I can go in lining up someone to do the work that is needed on the new place. I’ve had a couple more quotes for the largest job that needs doing and, although more expensive than the previous quote I had, it includes extra work that will be of benefit in the long run, saving me money on the heating bills and future proofing the house somewhat, so I am leaning towards that option.I sold the final large item of furniture I had to get rid of for £170 which I put straight into the savings account. I’d taken some out of the savings last week to buy a few things needed for the house, so it had gone down a bit, but it’s back up to £6260.Not much else to report really, hopefully I’ll have some more positive news next time.

I’ve transferred another £25 to savings today, rounding it up to £6320 in total. An item I’d advertised for free on fb has just been collected, it’s nice to give something a new home to be reused rather than take it to the tip. Always a pain in the backside selling/giving stuff away on fb though - this one turned up over an hour late and only after I’d had to ask him whether he was actually still coming. 🙄
Not much else to report. I just hope this week brings good news on the moving house front, I’m getting really fed up with the limbo feeling now.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,956.86

It's payday today so I've filled up my pots in YNAB and transferred the monthly amounts to the savings. Another £50 will go automatically to the premium bonds tomorrow, making the total savings now £6620.
I've chased various estate agents and solicitors again this morning, nagging seems to be the only way to make any progress.
I've been told all enquiries and loose ends are now tied up and so the solicitors now need to discuss dates, no idea how long that will take them, how long is a piece of string...Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,956.86

So, out of the blue today I receive a message from someone whose house I was interested in buying some time ago, but their circumstances changed and they decided not to sell. So, today they tell me they are selling it and ask me if I want first refusal. 😩
House 2 as we’ll call is completely renovated, as is the garden, and parking for 3 cars, right near DS’s school. It’s £15K more than the one I’m buying (house 1) but without the £15k - £20k+ work needed.
It’s just my luck.If I pull out now, I risk losing my buyers and I’ll have to pay the solicitors fees, and it’s another £600 survey wasted, but my current house type has gone up at least another £15k - £20k on what I’ve accepted for it and one has just sold the same day it went online for £18k more than I achieved and it’s not in a good position on the site.House 2 is not in such a picturesque area as house 1 and I prefer the layout of house 1, but no. 2 is closer to OH, amenities and within walking distance to DS’s schools and there is some road noise with noise 1. I also need to get the parking situation sorted at house 1 as it’s been done badly and will require me getting a builder in to rectify it.House 2 doesn’t have a bath, just a small shower room and no 2nd toilet downstairs, but it does have a brand new kitchen and shower room with all integrated appliances included. What do I do?! 😫Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,956.86

I'm cynical. Suddenly want to sell = found something wrong. Hope for quick sale before you find out what it is. New housing or compulsory purchase nearby or even a problem with the house. Or just an estate agant wanting a quick win. What was that saying, was it about the Trojan horse, beware of greeks bearing gifts. Do your homework on this, but I do have a nasty suspicious mind.2

I know where you’re coming from bad memory, but it is actually a genuine reason - can’t go into detail here as it is quite personal to the people involved, but was related to issues concerning a new baby. They were always intending on selling, but had to delay it at the time and we’re going to leave it for a year, now a house has come up within family that they want to purchase. It’s not reached estate agent level yet, it was going to be a private sale through friends of a friend, but will be sold in a flash if it goes to an agent.I’ve asked them a few more questions but will tread very carefully and have a good think. Ultimately it has to be the right move for DS and I as we just need to settle in our new home now, wherever that may be.Both houses have pros and cons, I can see us being happy in either too, one will just take more time (and money) to be renovated and feel like ours than the other.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,956.86
