Old Style Daily Friday 22nd June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Another smashing day here yesterday after the cloud had cleared. I went out in the morning and was going to meet my friend to sort out our holiday booking but didn’t feel too well so spent the afternoon on the sofa.
I still managed to eat the lamb shank I had put in the slow cooker for dinner though, and the other lurking sponge pudding with some cream for dessert, so I can’t have been that unwell.
As I didn’t feel up to meeting my friend for coffee yesterday we are going to make up for it by going out for lunch today to sort out our holiday arrangements. I have a voucher for the pub where we are going so it makes it quite a cheap meal out.
If the weather is nice we are going to go to the seaside afterwards for a wander around. At some point I will try and dust through so that is one less job for the weekend. It won’t take long and is something I can do this evening.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning All
Cloudless blue sky out there this morning, looks like it could be another lovely day.
I got the grass cut yesterday and tidied up a bit, it all looks so much better. Two loads of washing dried as well, didn't put it out until 5pm but the breeze and sunshine made for quick drying.
Thank goodness it's Friday! Work has been absolutely manic and I'm looking forward to the weekend.
Pleased to hear your meeting went well RR.
Hope you get to sit on your new bench with a bottle of wine on the table Gers!
Right, better get shifting into the shower before a swim an another day at the funny farm. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another rubbish night for me but that's par for the course. Worrying about anything and everything that I know I can't change, but that doesn't stop me worrying.
The sun has got his hat on well and truly, blazing away and forecast to blaze all day long. Lovely. And, as a bonus, the wind that has been with us for days has finally dropped. DS is coming after work this afternoon to cut the front hedge which is beyond Mr TA nowadays and he doesn't trust me up a stepladder wielding the hedge trimmer! He is also going to tackle the rampant ivy at the back.
Being that day again the much needed Friday Tidy is top priority and I am hoping to summon up the enthusiasm to make an early start and get all the jobs finished before lunchtime.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where wanted/needed. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, he'll come with me to do the food shopping, then go straight to the gym.
Dinner last night was chicken in country sauce with savoury rice, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be something with chips for the menfolk, probably an omelette and salad for me.
Yesterday I wasn't overly productive, but did get some of the chores done in town, I managed to get to the recycling centre to take the stuff there and did remember to put some petrol in my car. I did a very brief tidy and hoover, and kept going with the washing, some of the problem is that although it was reasonably sunny the wind was quite chilly so stuff was taking so long to line dry. I still have quite a pile of wet washing to peg out - I'll do that shortly.
So on to today -
I'll be food shopping first thing, then home to get on with the ironing, and hopefully change our bed, there's plenty of other jobs to do too, so many hotspots that need looking at, may see if I can get some motivation from somewhere to tackle something.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
The sun is shining, the skies are blue and my washing is nearly ready for the line. At least, the first load is ready, I'll probably do bedlinen later.
I need to do a minor Friday Tidy but I did most of it yesterday. There is never a day where a Tidy isn't needed here though. My main aim today is to clean out the kitchen cupboards.
I stubbed my toe on DS's wretched exercise bench yesterday afternoon, the toe is black and blue now.I moved that bench as I tripped over it once too often but now am harbouring very negative feelings towards it. If looks could kill inanimate objects, that bench would be a smouldering pile now.
I hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Looks like another cracking day here, off to work for me at the quieter site, the new lady seems really lovely and is picking things up really quickly so its a pleasure to train her.
We are going to the pub tonight  new people have taken over the pub in the village and the food is meant to be very good so we are going to try it out, there may be wine involved too
Specky I love the Olympics particularly swimming and track, I cant abide football thoughand it does seem to take over the whole tv at the moment, I think they should have two or three channels dedicated to football and leave the rest alone ! it is only every four years though so I grin and bear it
The salt water does seem to be working on my face, its not hurting or itchy at all so fingers crossed I have found the answer.
Right I had better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Speky If it's any consolation I like motor racing. I used to go to the speedway when I was a child. Love 'banger racing'. Haven't been to a race for years though. Banger racing is held on bank holidays where we go and Grump hates heavily congested roads so I've given up on that idea but it was always a fun day out.
Slept well. Youngest made enough noise to wake the dead this morning. Think he was late getting up.
Dumpling did you get any joy concerning a college place for Lee?
Onwards and forwards

Hi all,
I'm looking around the house at all the clutter and dust that seems to have accumulated over the last 6 weeks when we only seem to have been here long enough to unpack, do the washing and pack again. Anyway I have about a fortnight here now so I'm determined to get things under control again. We have Sis-i-L and a friend coming to stay next weekend because they have tickets for the first day of Wimbledon so I am aiming to have everything pristine by then.
I need to food shop today as well but am lacking inspiration for meals, I think I'll buy some breaded fillets and we'll have fish and chips tonight.0 -
Morning everyone,
Wall to wall sunshine here with bright blue skies, lovely
We made the most of the longest day yesterday, lots done in the warm sunshine and then out for an evening meal with DSIL, her partner and DN’s, food was ok but company was great and we were the last people to leave the restaurant.
Lu was a little monkey yesterday, bucking and rearing on the lunge, she obviously has far too much energy at the moment, probably due to the haylage which gives her a lot more ‘ heat ‘ than normal hay, with no energy needed for warmth or coat growth it can only go one way so our exercise regime will be stepped up. Lu you have been warned :rotfl:
Speky I love footie and cricket, plus we have Royal Ascot at the moment so there is a lot of sport being watched in our house at the moment, I blame the fact that I grew up with just brothers
Right, time to get going, have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning chums and what a beautiful summers morning it is,gorgeous blue skies and sunshine with just a light breeze to keep you cool. temps around 20c my kind of day
This morning will be a quick FRiday Tidy so I can relax over the weekend This afternoon I havevHistory club which I always enjoy, and looking at my list of subject for this term it seems we have female musicians this afternoonshould be interesting. Our tutor who runs it is a fabuolous cook so chances are there will be a nice piece of cake to go with out tea as well. Always a nice end to the week on Friday afternoon.
I have a few bills to pay online today so I shall do that first.I'm so pleased that DGDKatie passed her test I have just messaged her to wish he a good holiday as her and OH,baby Erin and in-laws are off to Cornwall on holiday today, hope they have a good journey as its a very long way from the Medway.
Apart from that I shall be round to see the boys after History this afternoon so I may make them some chocolate chip cookies this morning as well if I have some spare time.
Hope everyone has a good day and makes the most of the sunshine
Cheers chums
