I have Tesco credit card and always pay the full amount off each month. However I always make payment by visiting their website and paying by debit card. Why bother the hassle of phoning to make a payment to a call centre operative when you can so easily do it on the net. Personally speaking I think some people make difficulties for themselves just to have a moan on this board.
  • Good for you Mable. However paying by Direct Debit may not always be appropriate for all and many are unable to pay off the full amount.

We have used the automated telephone payment system successfully in the past. It was all going fine until an operator interrupted the transaction and subsequently took another payment. That operator was told that we were in the middle of paying. Surely it would only take an ounce of common sense to check their computer to see if the payment had already gone through before taking another payment.

My bugbear is also the time it took to return the money. They took 2 payments instantly but it took 4 days to return it, and then only after several calls and a threat to take it further.

I prefer not to moan and certainly do not make life difficult for myself. All I was doing was passing on what had happened to me so that others may be aware of what could happen to them.

If people do not like to 'read' posts that they consider to be 'moans', don't bother reading any posts.

If you always pay in full, why not set up a DD, which will save you, MABLE, the hassle of having to remember each month to go online to pay with your debit card?

[Moopet - I think you have misunderstood MABLE's posting]
".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."
  • Okay I misread the bit about Mable using a debit card.

However my reason for replying to the post was to disagree that I and others do not 'make difficulties' for ourselves simply to have a moan on this forum.

I don't believe this post ! The whole point of paying my balance in full by speaking to a human being was to avoid hassle. Who, apart from Mable is on here for the sake of 'having a moan'.
By paying in full and closing the account I have saved a great deal of hassle.

Thought this was a good place to share concerns and get advice. As a newbie here I was not impressed by Mable's reply. NOT at all helpful.
