Not too impressed that they sent the bumpf about my maturing RS to arrive on 4th Nov when it matures on the 7th!!. I had already sent off my passbook to close the account and get the money transferred elsewhere. However originally I had my payments set up by DD, then during the year closed the current account from which payments came and was simply told to continue with my payments, which subsequently went in by SO from a different account, not by DD. I also made my second payment from the 1st Dec, even though the first had gone in on 7th Nov.0

suits brittania not to receive maturity instructions for as long as possible so the funds earn rubbish interest in default account.
while many on here may have taken it upon themselves to organise movement of maturing funds elsewhere, many people elsewhere probably wouldnt have done so.
skipton wrote re maturing xmas saver a month beforehand which appears right sort of time to write to people re maturing accounts.0 -

Do Britannia offer BACs transfer facility or is it cheque?0 -
On the form, you can transfer the funds to an existing Britannia a/c/open new a/c or close the account with a cheque payable to yourself.
No mention of bacs.0 -

No mention of bacs.
Old cheque repayment con. eh? That means they get to keep your money for another week without paying any interest thereby reducing effective interest to around 7.35%.0 -
My RS account matured at 8 Nov. They received my instruction form on 7 Nov. They HAVEN'T done anything yet untill I made a phone call to complain on 19 Nov.
Their excuse is short of staff!
Received three cheques today:- 1. Cheque for my matured account. 2. compensation cheque of £25. 3. My cheque of £250 for the new account. (well, I told them, didn't bother to open the new account)0 -
Although my Issue 1 matured and I got the cheque fairly promptly, they took ages opening my Issue 2 Regular Saver. In fact they only did it when I complained to the Complaints Dept, and I have been sent a letter which says that although the Acct. was opened on the 19th, yet they had my cheque on the 9th, they will in fact add some £10+ to my RS when it matures for the slowness in getting round to opening it. So I will monitor the final balance carefully!0

I have a branch within striking distance, so I went in, took 500 in cash (the max without prior notice) the balance as a cheque and walked it round the corner to my bank. I'm a mean old bu**er!0

My Fixed Rate Regular issue 2 will mature on the 6th of November and like last year, no maturity letter from Britannia yet.
My account will mature on a Thursday meaning my cheque will take an extra 2 days to clear. I'll probably do what RayWolfe did last year and take £500 in cash and the rest by cheque.0
