Hi,
We have a hallway which has a cold outside wall which forms condensation spots. A plasterer has said its not damp.
The house is very humid atm due to the weather, we have installed trickle vent to the front door to try and help.
Any tips for warming the wall? Thermal paper?
Thanks
Luke

I think there's something else going on. The wall itself might not be the source of the moisture but I reckon you've got water getting in somewhere. My house was very damp and humid last year when I first moved in and I put it down to the age/type of house and the weather. Turns out a water main outside had been leaking, possibly for years. No more excess humidity, no more damp basement.
I'm an end terrace with an exposed north facing solid wall and I've never had condensation on it, even when I had damp problems.0 -
HI,
The rest of the wall along the hall is fine its just that cold spot, no sign of water damage anywhere on the wall. Plasterer has inspected and said its just condensation. The wall is very cold0 -

What is on the other side of the wall ?
i.e. Drain pipes, flat roof, render (and is it cracked), soil pipe ?
A couple of photos of the exterior might help. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

Both my observations mean I would be investigating further and not relying on the opinion of a plasterer. Be reasonable here - this person may be the best plasterer in the world, but that does not mean they know amswers on damp and humidity.0 -
It an end gable wall, no drainage pipes etc.
Its rendered, no visible cracks.
When I was decorating, even my body heat and breadth was causing condensation on the wall in question.0 -
My friend had a random damp patch in the middle of an external rendered wall and it turned out it was from an old window which had been removed years previously but hadn't been filled properly - if your wall is rendered is it covering up a previous window or something?0

No its a solid wall which has never had any windows etc there are no signs of damp in the area which is causing issues0 -
I think "just condensation" needs ore investigating. I have a suspicion there is as has already been said, more to it than that. Perhaps further investigation beyond the plaster.
I have seen this in a relatives house as a cold wall and that needs repointing now!0 -
Is it near the floor or much further up?0
-
I have had a timber/damp survey done and nothing was reported on that. Obivoulsy, did not go below the plaster
Also isn't "re-pointing" for brickwork?0
