I tried to but when I went back and logged in to ratedpeople.com, his details wouldn't come up. I emailed ratedpeople to ask why and they confirmed that he'd requested his details be removed from the site.0 -
Perhaps he's now on xratedpeople.com then....?

There are some dangerous folk about.
We had someone come in and finish the bathroom, just because it was dragging on over months and I never found a decent amount of time to get it done.
The tiling looks like it was finished by Stevie Wonder, but since the walls are like bananas I didn't complain.
The kicker was the brand new £200 shower they wired in with a loose neutral that went bang a few months after. When I opened up the shower and then checked the wiring - complete toast. He'd also undersized the cable for the shower anyway - That was just an incident waiting to happen even with a solid connection.
I rang him and although I wanted to lose my temper, I managed to keep calm and explain to him that his dodgy wiring could have burned the house down. The house is insured, but we would never have been able to replace the dog and our photos, personal items etc. I told him that I had no confidence in his ability to put it right and that he needs to be more careful in future
His response was pretty poor. He seemed surprised to get a complaint about his work. I told him I wanted the money back to cover the cost of replacing the shower, cable and hiring a sparky to install it correctly.
He accused me of tampering with the shower myself. It was only when I got back to him and said I had better things to do then put my own home in danger, like report him to trading standards and the local newspapers that he changed his tune. He asked for pictures of the defect and then paid the £300 to put it right. But he never said sorry or explained why he did such a bad job in the first place.0 -
That's another thing I'm worried about to be honest (dangerous folk). I'm on my own and if I start down the road of writing letters and threatening court action to try and get a refund; I'm concerned it could all turn quite ugly.0

We had a similar situation with Rated People, a roofer that went round and round the house looking for extra jobs to do and pestering for more money. Fortunately the job we hired them to do was OK, but in the end Rated People removed them from the site, I guess other people might have complained.
There is not much you can do except contact them direct with court papers.
If they are active on local Facebook groups, you could post a message on the group asking for advice on small claims for roofing (mentioning no names). Chances are they'll see it and realise you're serious. We did this when we had an issue with a different company and we got our money back within the hour.0
