HI,
I need a little advice. I have a HSBC credit card and I normally make the minimum or just over payment each month.
I just tried on the phone to pay £40 (minimum was £38) to a telephone assistant and she said because I am making the payment from a non-HSBC debit card (I was paying from my Monzo account) that I could ONLY pay the minimum and not more.
This seems ludicrous and totally against the ideals of a credit cards - being its essentially a loan you pay back when you want, providing you meet the minimum payments each month - you can pay off more if you wish to.
I told her to forget to entire payment and put the phone down. Surely they cannot put these restrictions on customers on how much they wish to pay? Advice please.

You can make whatever payment you want.
On the outside chance they do have some strange phone payment policy, just make a direct payment from your account.0 -
They do make it absurdly tricky to pay, I just do a transfer now, but will probably close the account after the promotional period. They are stuck in the Middle Ages.0

I wanted to set up a Direct Debit from my Barclays current account to pay my HSBC credit card. Couldn't do it online, had to print out and fill in a form and take it to an HSBC branch.
Did that. They lost it.0 -
