Why does a poll thread get bumped whe someone votes?

Yes I sometimes find the votes-to-views ratio surprising, too. Remember that most people will be viewing on smartphones or tablets these days so opening new links is more of a hassle, plus hovering to preview might not be available. At the end of the day, though, the fact with forums is that you get what you get.0

Agree
One of the reasons is that many of the polls on here are created by first time posters who have a complaint .
Poll says something like do you agree that xxx should give me a refund or xx is the worst company in the world .
Often the poll result is indicative of nothing or even asking a question with two answers .
PS i think i am using the old forum view .0 -

Exactly, "with forums ... you get what you get", hence why in my first reply above in this thread I started by saying..I don't think MSEers are interested in participating in polls....
As for "most people will be viewing on smartphones or tablets", even more surpring then that >90% of votes in that other thread want rid of the new forum skin (and that all non logged in users are forced to use) and that I understand was designed to better suit such users, but prefer to still use the old forum skin that was designed before smartphones became so prolific.0 -

So what response were you looking for in this thread? As for "most people will be viewing on smartphones or tablets", even more surpring then that >90% of votes in that other thread want rid of the new forum skin (and that all non logged in users are forced to use) and that I understand was designed to better suit such users, but prefer to still use the old forum skin that was designed before smartphones became so prolific.
Yup, it’s unpopular with everyone.0 -

I wasn't actually seeking any response in this thread; I was providing one0 -
Ah, you were just having a pop; okay.0

Perhaps one reason participation in polls is not popular on MSE is the fact that they are not notated as such when using the latest and greatest forum skin, the one that 9 out of 10 MSEers who expressed a preference said thay hate, but is mandated for those who are not logged in.
To be clear, the poll is there once the thread is opened, but it is not notated as such from the list of threads on any specific board, when using the latest forum skin.
Perhaps if MSE wish to still promote the increasing use of polls on this site, then consideration be given to again clearly detail those threads that have polls on, without haviing to click and open them to discover to their surprise that a poll is hiding within.0
