Any advice on buying my council house

    You can't expect your other daughter to look after her sister when you are no longer here. That is not fair on either of them.



    You said that your disabled daughter doesn't like change? She would certainly get a change if the house she lives in now was sold and she had to move to somewhere chosen by her sister.



    Finding somewhere for your disabled daughter to live when you are no longer around is your job to do before you die not to leave until you are dead and she has to deal with the loss of her parents and her home all in one go.



    Now is the time to find somewhere permanent for your disabled daughter to live so that when you die her whole world doesn't fall apart. What is the supported housing for disabled people like in your area. You have also got to remember that your disabled daughter is entitled to her own life and to be able to leave home like your other daughter has.

  • My husband is 45 he will be lead on the mortgage. I want my daughter to have choices .
    She's thirty now she has mild cebral palsy can walk but is clumsy dispraxia and is autistic . I think now it would be wise if everything works out to move her to independent living over the next 10 years so I am thinking buy our home then down size to a smaller bungalow in a few years then eventually my daughter's will have inheritance and I know there will be a meet egg especially for my unwell child .we don't get Benifits so why pay full rent when we could buy . I hear what folk saying about repairs to be honest we have done most of them anyway so won't be alot of diffrence.
    Just a big scarey thing knowing how to start the mortgage ball I have filled in right to buy forms to ask can I buy and popping them in on Thursday. They then have eight weeks to give me their answer . We then have 12 weeks to find a mortgage and buy .

    What surprised me, when I looked on the land registry details, it stated the sold price - as the discount price.

    Why did that surprise you? That's the price you paid for the property so that's the sold price recorded.

    You wouldn't. Depending on the lender some will allow you to use the discount as your entire deposit whilst others will also want you to contribute to the deposit yourselves. A mortgage broker specialising in right to buy mortgages will help you select the right mortgage for you.
  • Thank you so much everyone we went in today and gave in our right to buy forms asking if they will allow us to buy so we start our Journy excited and nervous in a mix of anticipation.
    From your advice I will begin to look for a broker who specialises in right to buy in my area .
