Mobile speed camera

Hi,

I drove past a mobile speed camera unit like this before but both hatches were closed, can it still clock you? I think I was doing about 34mph approaching but slowed down  Yes, I know I should have been doing 30mph but just wanted to ask if anyone knows what it means when both hatches were closed. The van had been there an hour.

    It means they’re not open.

How did you know it had been there an hour? If you did, why did you approach it at speed?

Caught or not, it seems to have done the trick.

No! They don't operate through glass.

If you were doing an indicated 34 mph then your real speed would likely have been 31 or 32. At that speed you're unlikely to get tagged.

He’s tagged if they operate the gun.

I drove past a van, it was 100% my fault for not watching the speedo constantly but I did think it was a bit of a snide place to put it - at the bottom of a steep hill leaving a village that was in a 30. I had the car in 3rd and was braking but must have been a bit distracted as I was showing 35 on the speedo when I was braking and noticed the van. Fortunately they didn't tag me. I think mine is over by about 3mph as the machines that show your speed typically show me at 27-28 when my car shows 30/31

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
