AND you get the usual added protection afforded by buying on a credit card.
Isn't that question still awaiting appeal against a High Court ruling that Sect. 75 protection does NOT extend overseas?
I may have misheard/misunderstood/made it up - but that's my understanding of the current position .....
Oh, it might refer to just outside the EU, or it might be outwith the UK. God, what it is to have lost ones marbles and to have completely forgotten where one had been that day .... .0 -
You'd probably be even better off opening a Nationwide current account as well, 'pre-load' that, and use the debit card for cash withdrawals. She preloads it in case she needs to draw cash (as we think that avoids interest on cash advances although you till pay say $1.50 for a withdrawal). Excellent exchange rate and no commission: it's a deal!Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
It sounds like the companies involved just lost their case today:Isn't that question still awaiting appeal against a High Court ruling that Sect. 75 protection does NOT extend overseas?

I can't remember why we didn't do that now: probably out of jealously protecting the 0.1% more pa in interest we get from the Halifax. Time to revisit methinks! Ta for the reminder!
Ahhh, I remmber now: I think it was a problem with finding ATMs in Gooberville, Mississippi and Butf*ck, Alabama that you could approach in the dark without an armed escort ....0 -

How timely was that! And jolly good news for us all, too!0 -
If that's so, he could have 'won' up to $600 by using a Nationwide cred/debit card over there instead of buying $ here, or up to $300 by using an 'ordinary' credit card!Crikey! To win $50 on a movement of a cent or two indicates spending something between £2500 and £5000 on your cash $ purchase!0 -

Sorta begs the question "Where were you using your credit card to withdraw money then?"

For that she took cash - for that very reason! (Not much, most everything can be bought on credit cards - cash is mainly for taxis and tips). Oh, and she forgets her pin easily. And apparently EVERY ATM she went to didn't accept her card anyway. She travels on her own, you see - she shouldn't really!0 -
I have to say I felt a lot safer using ATMs in the US than I have in London, Birmingham or Manchester. Or even in my little home town, in the High Street after dark.....Ahhh, I remmber now: I think it was a problem with finding ATMs in Gooberville, Mississippi and Butf*ck, Alabama that you could approach in the dark without an armed escort ....0
