I am in Hampshire so 250k is not unusual for this type of house.
Just the other side is let out all I want to know is if I can find out idf the tennant is DSS or private.
Lol - if the house is that pricey, DSS aren't goint to be paying benefits in that range. so you should be 'safe'.!0 -
define unsavoury?....I look unsavoury when I'm just back in from work and not changed. If it's a rental property, then they could change at any time anyway- as could any neighbours. Any small group of teenagers can look dodgy too but doesn't mean they are.
What i did when I moved house was knocked on a couple of doors in the street and asked about the area and any trouble...0 -
LOL ... did they call the police on you cos you looked unsavoury...

by knocking on the doors of your prospective neighbours also gives you and insite to the house your buying as well.. oh like the fact the sellers could be headcases and they could be the drug dealers.. imagine that kind of people you would have knocking on your door when you move in.. also could be they were into diy not very good so that new conservatry u love might fall down etc etc.. its a two way think.. my boyfriend moved to aylesbury and as im moving to be with him in the future i knocked the neighbours doors and asked abt schools etc.. the neighbours were really friendly and gave honest answers to my questions.. moved in and they talk to you if they want to didnt like the fact we turned our front garden into a drive .. they have four cars to there house. Our neighbours own there house.
And a point margaret.. have you seen the prices of houses now in bearsden .. nearly fainted when i saw what houses are going there .. and maryhill bloody hell glasgow is getting posh lolThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
One set of tenants in a house I rent out left after 6 months because they said the people who owned the house next door were too noisy and common! You just can't win.0

If its any help, if you want to find out who owns the property, then go to the land registry site, you can order the information over the net, It costs, but im not sure how much. If im correct in thinking, the owner will be registered. Then, check out the local phone book (might not help if they are ex-directory) under that surname and look for the address. You might be able to tell if the owner lives there.
Also, the Property Register tells you whether there is any mortgage or charge over the property, and purchase price (if sold after April 2000). It might tell you what kind of mortgage, e.g. Buy-to-Let, or paid with cash. It might indicate whether it was purchased to rent.
Failing that, get a Private Investigator to track down the legal owner and ask them!
Note: A cheap method might be to ask the owners of the house you want, they might know...
