Bearing in mide your eldest child is likely to be considerably older by the time you die, and your FIL is likely to no longer be around by then I would make him / her an executor, otherwise you risk outliving all your executors.
It sounds like your current estate is over £250k, so dying intestate is going to a big problem, so you need things sorted ASAP.0 -

You said you're doing this because you've got an operation coming up soon. If it's particularly risky or there are risks of going wrong, have you set up Power of Attorney?Signature removed for peace of mind0
