Temporary free template will

I plan on leaving everything to my wife
At the moment I have no will but but may have a operation coming up soon.
I am thinking of just doing a temporary will using the free template as recommended by MSE so that I at least have sometghing in place before the operation
Everythingh is really simple, the template appears to do all I need it to.
Is a template like this good enough under these circumstances?
I have 2 family members (wifes sister and wifes father) who are willing to be executors.
I can look in to doing another one for botgh of us after the operation but just want somethin in place now - does this sound sensible rather than rushing things through with a solicitor?

If you do not have children, then dying intestate (without making a will) will mean your wife inherits everything, and is unlikely to cause difficulty.
If you DO have children and you're worth more than £250,000 (I think) including your house, then yes a simple will would be a good idea.
But it shouldn't take long to get one in place anyway.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

That gives you time to sort out your will - properly. Just saying you leave it all to your wife is fine...but what if something happens to her 10 minutes before you die? You need a Plan B in your will, not just 'all to wife'.0 -
You should consider transferring the 2 properties you own outright into joint ownership as joint tenants, so that they would pass automatically to your wife if you were to die.
You still both need wills which should include covering the possibility that your wife dies before you or that you go together. Do not skimp on this get it done properly.0 -

Don't you trust your wife to be your executor?0 -
Don't you trust your wife to be your executor?
To be fair I think some people, don’t choose their spouse because they don’t want to lumber them with with the task at such a difficult time. But I agree she should be named as executor. The other relatives can be named as back up executors and hopefully at least one of those is of a younger generation.0 -
Thanks all
The template will I have leaves everything to wife but if she dies before me everything is split equaly between children, then their children (they are only 18 and 13 though)
You can see it here - https://www.compactlaw.co.uk/free-legal-documents/will-married-man-with-children.html
(reccomended by MSE)
Regarding not trusting wife to be executor:
She would not be able to cope, I trust her sister and father 100% to do what is best for her and children (both are very wealthy and wifes sister would also be guardian if anything happened to wife)
I basically want to create the will this week and think about it more at a later date.
Is the one linked to above good enough under these circumstances?0 -
