    Morning All

I woke up at 5.30, made a cup of tea and read for a while. Tried to go back to sleep but it didn't happen.

It's wet again so more washing drying inside, DW will go on after more tea.

I'm meeting DD for a wander around Glasgow later, her BF is seeing his Dad and she doesn't want to be a spare part! Neither of us need anything so a good wander will do, oh and lunch.

Yoga was good yesterday but my buttocks are a little sore this morning! I bought a mat that is thicker than the ones supplied so the relaxing bit at the end was glorious.

Have a happy Sunday, take care. XX

Good Morning chums had a nice night at the charity quiz ,we didn't win,but we all enjoyed ourselves, and discovered that Edward the third actually banned football for awhile so men could concentrate on their archery skills (not all bad then :))

Pottering around day today, then off to DDs for lunch late afternoon. This morning it will be menu planning for the week, and listening to the Archers, my normal Sunday morning routine.
DGS Jack has his last A level exam tomorrow then he is finished at last and will be at home for the next few weeks until he goes in on the last day of term in July He seems to think he has done Ok and said he had't been asked anything he couldn't answer :) so fingers crossed for him.

Hope everyone has a good day and enjoys whatever they are doing I am still plagued with this irritating cough I thought it had gone but last nights quiz was held in a local Roko sports centre and they had the air-con blasting away which always makes me cough. Weather is cloudy but bright at the moment Gorgeous sunset last night which should forecast a nice day but looking at the BBC weather it says a good chance of rain so perhaps I won't bother to wash the throw from the sofa just yet

    Onwards and upwards chums

    JackieO xx

PS Mrs SD the cheese and onion rolls vanished at quiz all 40 of them :0 I'm definitely making cherry scones this morning and probably a lemon meringue for DDs this afternoon :):):)

Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.

Cheese and onion rolls sound yummy JackieO.

Dp1, one of my DD's didn't speak to me 6 months after my divorce, I phoned her every Saturday at the same time and left a brief message just saying ' I hope you are ok and have had a good week, speak to you soon, love you '
After 6 months she answered when I phoned, I'd been warned by my other DD that she was plucking up the courage to answer my call but was worried that I'd say something nasty as she knew she'd been in the wrong.
When she answered the phone I carried on the conversation as though we'd spoken regularly. We've been on goodish terms ever since though there are times when her mental health wobbles and I have to bite my tongue.

Well, that was a bit of an essay, sorry. We are in a hotel and will be until tomorrow morning, we are collecting our boat from the dry dock about 8ish then we we head back towards Reading.

    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

    Morning

Lovely warm day here bit grey but hopefully that will turn blue later.

Had a lovely relaxing day yesterday binge watching a few of my favourite series and then a gorgeous Chinese banquet in the evening with my bestie girls :) Far too much food as there always is so everyone left with a doggy bag so its Chinese for lunch today

Asda man was lovely yesterday he brought my shopping in to the kitchen and even offered to put away my fridge stuff. He's always so friendly and helpful so today I am going to pen a thank you note to Asda who will hopefully give him a well deserved pat on the back. We spend too much time complaining about people its nice to do the opposite.

Bought a chicken to cook today and have some hot bbq chicken sandwiches in crusty bread tonight :j Have some lemon cheesecakes too as part of a meal deal so may indulge in one of those later.

Thinking about dad lots today but gonna stick with happy memories and maybe have a glass of hobgoblin at lunch for a cheers :) Hope everyone spending the day with their dads have a lovely day ad give him an extra hug from me

silver_oldie sorry they let you down again wish you lived closer I would snaffle all of that and be very grateful:D

    Not much happening today.
DS, DiL and DGS were going to visit yesterday afternoon. Had a message after lunch to say they weren't coming. Anyone for white chocolate cheesecake, strawberries and cake, I've lots to spare.

Hope you all have a good day

I hope they had good reason....if not, they will understand how important their visit was to you soon enough.

Morning all, hope everyone is well.

I'm about to go and soak my ancient self in a bubble bath.

I'm another one thinking about my dad today, he died a few weeks before my son was born. DS was born on his birthday. My dad taught me the correct use of a mattock in tge garden and gave me a lifelong love of gardening for food. Not being used at present but that will come again.

Silver - oldie, I am sorry, you are not being treated well.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning, ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

We went to the open gardens yesterday. We managed 7 but it did point out that its really no longer an option, OH was so jiggered when we got home he went to bed for a snooze. My back also began to tell me I had done enough. So from now on its going to be our own back garden.

OH dug a shaw of new spuds yesterday, we are having them with the lamb tonight. I have no garlic until the new crop comes in so just marinaded in red wine. Strawberries for dessert.

I have a load of laundry in, OH reports there are black clouds heading our way, if its on the line and it rains its staying there, cannot dash out a retrieve a line full of washing any more.
  • Peace reigns! DD and bf have been to collect the remaining two DGDs on their way over to Haworth to pick up youngest from her pottery party. We love having them but it's getting harder work the older we get.

SILVER-OLDIE I really feel for you. One day they might understand how hurt you are by their actions.

Dp1 - It's hard on you too. Just keep the lines of communication open with your DD and never stop trying. It's all you can do until she is ready.

I too have been thinking about my own lovely dad. Even though it's almost 40 years since I lost him suddenly with no chance to say goodbye. I still remember tramping round the countryside with him when I was a little girl, with him telling me the names of all the wild flowers we spotted. I still remember most of them nearly 70 years on! He knew the sound of every bird we heard and I thought he was the cleverest dad in the whole world!

Breakfast was late this morning, after youngest DGD had been ferried to her party, so no rush yet for lunch. Mr TA is having a nap and I am time wasting on the lappie. After lunch it will be feet up with my book, leaving the tidying up etc up until tomorrow! I have shut the doors on their bedrooms slovenly woman that I am!

Have a nice afternoon folks if you can xx

HardupHester/TravellingAbuela - thanks for your advice. I'm planning on doing as you say, just stay in contact, even though it's just me making the contact. Its just very hard at the minute.
On a lighter note, I had a nice morning with my dad. He already had a card from my twin brother, then I had a card and sweets for him, them my older brother came down with gifts too. After he left, dad says to mam I've got 3 cards now....do you think I'll get any more? She says. ...well no because you've got 3 children!
Eldest DD messaged while I was with dad, shes crossed the border into Cambodia now. I answered with a message from grandad and her reply pinged straight back. Dad was fascinated how it got there so quickly!
Has anyone any experience of electric bikes? I'm thinking of buying one to get to work and back. At the minute I get a lift down and walk home, up quite a steep hill. I'm thinking it could be quicker and easier on an electric bike.

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

I have had a lovely day so far with a long lie in and a lovely lunch cooked by my hubby. Anyone would think it is mother's day today here :rotfl:. In fact, Steve got lovely cards and presents from the kids and he is happy to spend the rest of the day playing computer games.

I have been thinking about my dad too. We did not have the easiest of relationships to say the least but a lot of that was due to him having bipolar which he refused to take medication for. He could be a violent person at times and he used to batter me when I was young but he also taught me about nature, took me all over the country when he was a lorry driver and looked after me whenever I came out of hospital. I managed to forgive him while he was still alive and we ended up having a good relationship. I miss him terribly especially as he really mellowed when he got old and adored the grandchildren. I will raise a cup of tea in his memory today.

Silver-oldie, it breaks my heart to hear what happened. They had better have a flipping good reason for flaking out on you. I'm so sorry xx
dp1. you are doing the right thing keeping the doors of communication open. Hopefully she will come round and it will help a lot knowing you are still there for her. As for electric bikes, my friends wife bought one and said it made such a huge difference in her life. It was quite a lot of money but the enjoyment she got out of it more than made up for it, especially when she used to pass her husband going uphill :rotfl:.

Things are peaceful in this house, the girls are getting used to calling Lee by his new name as am I. Steve still finds it hard but it will get easier in time. Lee's care coordinator is visiting on Monday so I envision a lively conversation that day. Thank you all for your whole hearted support and private messages, I hoped you would all come up trumps and you haven't disappointed in any way. Lee says Thank you too.

Hope you all enjoy what's left of this weekend, take care xx
