Esa

My son had his esa assessment about a month ago. I requested a copy of the assessors report a few days ago and received an esa85 medical report this morning but I'm confused as there is no descriptors listed or score sheet and it's only 9 pages

Have you only got part of it?
Do the page numbers say 1 of 9, 2 of 9, etc or similar (rather than just 1 , 2, 3 etc)?
Does it have a Personal Summary page towards the end?
    What is page 9?

It does have all pages 1 to 9. Page 9 is the declaration by the assessor. There is no summary

On page 8 there is a paragraph titled LCW and LCWRA information, which says the client was found to meet the criteria for limited capability for work and work related activity and a paragraph about his learning difficulties. Then it says overall severe disability is unlikely in the area of personal action and the available evidence suggests improvement is unlikely in the long term.

Are you sure it's ESA and not Universal Credit.
The LCWRA group is UC terminology, and is the equivalent of the Support Group in ESA.

    Some info here:

    https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Universal-Credit/Claimant-Commitment-Conditionality

The recommendation to the DWP decision maker is that he is placed in the LCWRA group and is given no work activities.

Is he getting DLA / PIP?

He has never been on universal credit. He has been in the work related activity group of esa for about the last three years. Was sent an esa form a few months ago to fill in and had a face to face assessment about a month ago, we are still waiting on the decision. Had a pip assessment about a month ago aswell and received decision this morning that he has been awarded pip

The LCWRA group is the equivalent of the Support Group in ESA.
If there are no descriptors listed nor a score sheet, it's likely he has got into that group on the basis of Reg 35:

Puzzled why an ESA medical would refer to LCWRA rather than the Support Group.
Let us know more when you get the decision letter, but "was found to meet the criteria for limited capability for work and work related activity", seems a very clear recommendation to the DWP DM

Thank you. I'm just a bit confused about it because there are some things that are written that he wasn't asked. It says unable to calculate £1 minus 75p and unable to remember three objects but he was never asked to do these. The face to face assessment was very different from the one he had three years ago.

    Hmm.

It makes a change when a flawed assessment goes in favour of the claimant.

I wonder if the assessor then went on to wite it up on a UC proforma rather than in the ESA format!
    (The assessment criteria are identical).

As long as he's kept in the Support Group then then it doesn't really matter because there won't be any need to ask for the Mandatory Reconsideration.
