I never understand why people get so annoyed by things like this. Just hang up when they announce who they are. It takes less than a minute out of your day.
I've been with Sky, BT and Virgin for broadband and Virgin are by far the best. You will regret it if you switch to BT for just this reason.
I've been with BT for some time, never had a problem and never had a phonecall trying to get me to spend more money or indeed any phonecall whatsoever. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
Virgin are a bunch of crooks - Wont be using any of their services againgolddustmedia wrote: »....Every few months they post me an offer about Virgin Mobile, offering me all sorts of handset and sim deals that I'm not interested in....
Wait until you get a leaflet offering you a better service for half the price you are paying - and then you phone up to take up the deal and they say you can't have it - "NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY" - Well you sent it to me???
I guess VM are not content to treat their existing customers with contempt - They have to deride them as wellgolddustmedia wrote: »Needless to say I think this is the last year I'll be renewing my contract with them and it's time to switch to BT.
You can look forward to a phone call from the retentions SALES STAFF, namely being bombarded with fiction about how much bandwidth you are currently hoovering up and how only VM could provide you with that much bandwidth - followed closely by a 'special offer' thats half what you are paying but twince as much as anyone else - If you STILL dont roll-over you can basically expect an extended tantrum from the sales person terminated by "well your service ends 31st March....beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" as they put the phone down.
31st march will come and go and you will get billed again only to find out your service was not in fact terminated and several escalated phone calls until you get to speak to head of customer service who apologies and finally issues you a refund for 2 months you weren't with them.If I ruled the world.......0 -

not my experience but I have had all of the above from Sky.
I cant comment on BT as i have never had broadband with them.
I do know my Virgin broadband is fast and reliable and at a good packaged price
my Sky broadband was slow and unreliable0 -

Answer is to actually pay a Business subscription ..
No I'm not using my domestic landline for business.
We never use our home land line, strangely with VM it's cheaper to have the land line than to pay for fibre broadband without a land line.
The calls from VM are on my mobile phone, which is not a VM one. I have no need for a business subscription from VM since the mobile phone VM keep calling me on IS my business number!
Point I was making in my OP is that I'm a VM customer, yet VM keep phoning my mobile to sell me services I already have or don't want, despite me asking them not to on repeated occasions.0 -
We've lived in our current house since 2011. About every other month since 2011 we've received a letter from Virgin trying to get us to join them
Luckily for me it says it's from Virgin so I rip it in half and put it in the bin. It's easier than trying to get them to stop sending me letters0 -
My wife recently upgraded her virgin mobile phone, part of the package being handset insurance of £8 / month. She tried to decline it but was told she would have to complete the deal and ask for it to be removed post sale.
The call centre staff couldn't understand why she didn't want it (manf warranty and house insurance covered the basics) and she still gets calls trying to get her to opt in despite telling them no many times.
Makes me glad I left them 4 years ago.....0 -

That isn't quite true though - especially if they're calling while you're working. It can take quite some time to get back to where you were before the call, if you were doing anything at all complicated.
Actually, even if I'm just settled in of an evening with the cross stitch... that's a minute to answer the phone, another couple of minutes to settle my stuff back on my lap and readjust the light I had to move to get to the phone, hope I didn't drop the needle, then I need to look at where I was sewing and find it on the pattern again and count out how many stitches I've done/got left to do. If I'm in a 50 stitch line out of 8 or 9 very similar lines... that's how mistakes get made and I spend half an hour unpicking.

Yes and no, I was shamed for not being comfortable with taking a job with them recently as I am on benefits, (to be clear I wanted part time and didn't say no to the offer of work but didn't like the idea of working for them)
From the interview and discussion on site the company has very high targets to reach and few can do this, and they take on a lot of school leavers.
Its also probably not a good sign when I have been out of work years and they offered me a job so easily!
I have them as a ISP, have been having internet cut outs recently and I phoned the call centre and it seems all the tech support now is Indian, I was told in slow broken English to reboot router, 3 times, to test my mobile to see if wifi worked, after 3rd reset of router and 4th reboot of it the line went quiet for 5 minutes and he finally offered an engineer visit!
Wait .. You have them as an ISP, but are "uncomfortable" taking a job with them after being on benefits for years ??
But you are comfortable for me and all the other taxpayers to fund your life ??!!
You need to give your head a wobble :mad:0
