Morning all. Another quite blowy but sunny day, good for washing.

Am tired after a night battling OH for even a little bit of duvet. He had rolled himself in it, like a human sausage roll. I don't have to be totally under the duvet but I need a bit to protect me from the gremlins. Needless to say, by the time I wrested a bit from him, was wide awake so I've been messing about and watching a silly film since then.

Had a lovely retirement do yesterday. Today is the Friday Tidy with a vengeance but I might have a little sleep first to make up the sleepless hours.

Judi, I'm sorry about hour friend.

Nanny Windows have a great time.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning

Bit cloudy today but still warm.

Good day yesterday my friend came to pick me up and we went to lunch at a local alpaca farm which up to then I didn't even know existed and its only 2 miles from me...everyday's a skool day :D Had a lamb kofta in a pitta with feta salad and tzatziki it was gorgeous :)
Feet up for rest of the day after finally doing the washing.

Another friend is popping round for coffee this morning then its a nothing planned day no chance of a friday tidy my leg has swollen up again so thinking it needs a rest day. Thinking a lamb burger for dinner with some salad.

nanny 16 weeks sounds like sheer heaven and no fear I will not be getting in the car before my sign off appointment as I wouldn't be insured. Told mum this and she said well nothing would happen anyway ....amazes me daily with her words of wisdom
Have a great holiday and hope your wrist benefits from the break

Judi well done to your son for his 3 months

    Have a great friday all
  • Morning everyone,

Been MIA for a while. Had a tough couple of weeks with work-related things. Fairly big team restructure happening soon. I am affected, although it is now looking like I will still have a job and I may have some input into how the role will look. However, the upshot is that the team will shrink and it is inevitable that some of my colleagues (who I also class as friends) will be made redundant. They are amazing people and have always put so much into their work, I just feel so bad for them. A couple are quite young and were looking to secure mortgages etc. so are now facing a lot of uncertainty. Anyway, we have been having lots of team get togethers to try and keep people's spirits up while this 'consultation process' happens.

In the midst of all that I managed to have a nice birthday weekend away visiting my parents and have planned a few weekend trips with friends to have something to look forward to.

I have been reading along but forgive me for lack of individual replies today, will try and be better in the future!

I hope you are all as well as can be expected, I know some of you have much worse problems to deal with, I admire you all.

We have some sun today and I hope you do too, have a good Friday all :)

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Its a bright morning very little breeze, the wind yesterday was something else, we have quite a bit of damage to sort in the garden. The gardener is coming to do the grass this morning.

Friends came yesterday and brought OH's birthday cake, a strawberry and cream sponge, yummy, we have enough left left for afternoon tea today.

OH has been ok so guess the vertigo attack was a blip, although I am keeping an eye on him.

I made jam in the PKP yesterday, am reboiling it this morning, it was nowhere near setting, have reverted to the old jam pan, its bubbling away on the stove just now. I added the juice of a lemon to help the set, wish I had some pectin in stock, will be getting some next time I go to Morrison. I have a tin of Ma made, if I have enough sugar I may do that as well, save me buying marmalade for a few weeks.

Usual fish and chips tonight, I dare say there will be strawberries for dessert.

    Morning all from mehefinland
Another week gone already and I don't think I've posted once tut tut.

Bruisemare got a stone caught in her shoe and bruised the sole so she has been ooh meeing all week. The ground is so dry and hard here ( like blumming concrete) so its taken a while to sort. Then she overcompensated and the tendons in the other leg were swollen. Dosed that up with linament ( a human cold spray as it happens) and she seems to be recovering. May get to ride tomorrow if all well. Scoobymare just plods on. but they both need the exercise. Just think stomachs on legs ( bit like my Labrador!).

DS nearly finished his second week in his new job!! Brought home some special overall which he has to practice getting on without touching the outside of them... its for a clean room environment and they must not be contaminated. Was quite funny seeing the contortions he put himself through to get them on. Looked like something off Dr Who when he had finished.

Hugs and spoons to those in need. Well done to the achievers.

    take care all

Judi well done on your sons achievement, I have a friend who is 5 plus years into his sober days and I am so proud of him he has completely changed his life from what it was.
My OH and his Dad were best buddies and I knew him from a small boy who played with my children . After he lost his Dad he just about fell apart as his Dad had brought him up virtually single handedly.
He went off to Australia and I heard he had married, and I thought thankfully settled down, sadly he fell of the wagon and his marriage fell apart and he lost everything his wife his sons and home.

He eventually got to AA and they helped so much.He came back to the UK for awhile but has now returned and managed to pick up the pieces of his life again and regained the trust of his wife and family Thank God for AA as its undoubtedly saved his life He is now a hard-working sober Dad and husband once more and I couldn't be more pleased for them all.
Alcohol in moderation is fine, but when its an addiction, its like any other illness and has dreadful consequences.
So be proud of your boy, as everyday can be a struggle. Sorry for your news of your school friend .You are wise enough to make the decision about how you want your life to be .

I had a near brush with the grim reaper 11 years ago and it certainly changed my outlook on life I enjoy every extra day I have been given now .

This afternoon I am back at History club and we are discussing various rivers and their history in the Uk.

Tomorrow night I have a charity quiz night to go to with my team so that should be good fun.

Weather is looking bright and sunny, and I only have a few things to hang out on the line today. I finished all of my ironing off yesterday but these bits don't need ironing thank goodness

Hope you all have a great weekend, can't believe another week has vanished.

    Cheers chums

Bruisemare ( so called cos she would be a bruiser in human life) got a stone caught between the shoe and the frog of the hoof ( its the bit that looks like a vee shape) We got it out but she was then slightly lame on that foot. The farrier came and had a look but couldn't find anything, so we concluded she had hurt that part of her foot where the stone had been. A human analogy would be like getting a black nail from a pinch or blow of some sort. Painful but relatively short lived.
    Hope that explains it

I haven!!!8217;t worked out how to walk from my house to the town yet, and the road closures are in place from 8.00am this morning.
Try G00gle Maps. There's a "Walking" icon when you ask it for directions so that it'll give you the route to take on foot. If you have a smartphone, you can call it up on a pc or laptop for a decent screen size to see the route properly, then have directions sent to your phone (though I haven't tried that bit as I only have a "dumb" phone).

:eek::eek: Probably nothing would happen; but one can never be certain. We didn't expect to be rear-ended by an idiot playing with his phone while negotiating a roundabout at speed, but it still happened. :(

And in any case, regardless of that, it's against the law. You stick to your guns. ;)

Judi well done to Eldest on 3 months' sobriety. :T Sorry to hear of your friend's news though.

Please don't even think about getting in a car till you are both over the recuperation time and feel up to it. Maybe you would not be in an accident but even so as LW points out it would be illegal. Being a cynical old bat I would inclined to point out sweetly to mother that apart from it being illegal you would not want to take any risks with her safety. Once she sees things as being about her she may well "get it !"

    Judi

Well done to your son and I am so sorry about your friend.

I hung out a load of washing earlier this morning, unloaded the dishwasher and washed down the small freezer in the conservatory that I unplugged last night to defrost. That freezer was accidentally unplugged when family were over ages ago and I was racking my brains to think how to prevent it recurring. I snipped the letter "F" from a leaflet and sellotaped it over the freezer plug before turning the freezer back on. Over the next day or so I plan to do the same with the fridge freezer in the kitchen and transfer food between then and then do a bit of extra freezer shopping and sort everything out. Making sure I have separate drawers for meat, fish, veg etc would be a start and maybe labelling them as well so things do not get muddled as it is a waste of time and effort.

Just about to nip off for a hair cut and style so see you all later.

    Hugs to all
