I wouldn't buy that car. Sounds very dodgey.Me too. I'd be very suspicious of anyone giving me a tippex'd V5, regardless of what explanation they gave.
Depends on the value of the car, an old £500 runaround and they had the rest of the V5 to show me then I'd take a punt.

I had to do it on occasions when i was motor trading - usually for people changing their minds before purchase - never really much of a problem IF the car was otherwise good.
The OP might face an uphill struggle with the blue smoke anyway.0
