Log book filled in and New buyer changed his mind

Sold my old car today, everything was fine, log book filled in and was ready to be sent off. The bloke took the car and 5 minutes after he was back saying the car was making too much smoke from the exhaustion (it was true).
So I had no choice to refund him, he gave me back the log book side that I gave to him, but what should I do now with the one I was supposed to send. It's got all his details on. And I need to sell the car still. Any help?

You did have a choice. You didn't have to take it back as long as the advert was truthful.0

He brought a sort of mechanic with him and he said the car was good. Then when they left they came back. 3 big blokes. Thank you for the answer tho, but it doesn't answer my question.0

Tipp Ex his details out ready for the next keeper details. Alternatively, do the next transfer online.0

Transfer online? Didn't know it was possible to do that. Thank you for your answer0

Strangely (for an online service) only available 7am - 7pm.
https://www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicleYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
The new buyer won't be happy without the little green slip, it proves you bought the car if you get stopped by the police or some other problem, like DVLA trying to clamp you.
I'd send off for a new formChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Tip Ex out the details on the green new keepers slip and give to the new buyer, then do the transfer online. It's no biggy.
I did online transfer last time I sold a car and got the confirmation letter from DVLA within a week along with instant email confirmation.0 -
the online service is very good, and I don't often praise government services.0

Do people even fill out the green slip these days? Can't remember last time I did, even when I was selling cars for a living I can't remember ever filing it out. Just gave it to the buyer blank.
All the buyer really needs is the code on it0
