Lg 43uj630v 43" 4k tv - fell over

Could you advise please...

My son [24yo] purchased a TV from Very.com - it arrived, he unboxed it and a few days later whilst nobody was in his room there was an almighty crash and the tv had toppled off its two small support legs and on to the floor - causing massive damage to the TV.
There were no pets or children in the room, nor had they been... I had not been in to tidy his room [I never do] the door was closed - his windows were open.

We believe the tv support legs [two small ones - not the normal central pedestal type] failed.

On trying to contact Very.com they keep saying we need to have a call from a specialist team member - we give details and then nobody returns the call. This has happened 5 times so far...

What advice does anyone have - my son is facing paying for a tv that is unusable and less than 10 days old.

Thank you in advance - by the way I do have home insurance, it would cover this damage however, we believe it was the tv stand legs that gave way and caused the crash - therefore not our problem.

I had a look at the instructions for this model and they are screwed on, was this done correctly? If so where did the legs break?

It does seem strange, it's not as if they don't test the design to destruction before release. Wonder how many others have fallen over?

Sounds like the item was incorrectly assembled.

I would expect Very to say the same after any inspection, although wise to let them have a look of course.

I think you'll have to make a claim on your household insurance...

I really can't see how that could've fallen over unless the legs weren't installed correctly. What evidence do you have to suspect the legs gave way, are they broken in any way?

Who set the tv up? Who screwed the legs on?

Things like this are tested and tested to ensure they are fit for purpose, so it is highly unlikely to be a design fault.

Either the legs were faulty, or they were not screwed on properly.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I have the same TV , those feet are secured by 2 screws on each leg , there's no way it could fall over unless the feet weren't fitted correctly or it was balancing on wherever it was placed

I have the similar LG43UH603V, and that has what look like the same feet. It's always been pretty stable, and I think it would take some effort to knock it over.

Your son broke the TV but doesn't want to admit it. HTH

If your son assembled it it does sound as if he's made a mistake with the assembly or put it on an unstable surface.
