Car insurance hike up by £1800 after a minor accident! fair?!

Because when I spoke to my husband on the phone, it is what he said.
It wasn't until later that I spoke to him in person, he explained it in more detail.
As it happens, the newer car was a £500 difference, so £1800 minus that is still a huge hike!
Was this newer car the same model engine size spec etc if not your only £500 difference is irrelevant.........edit....just seen your reply that newer car is 5 years newer that will make big difference.....is it same size engine0 -
no no no, not new, newer it's a 2011 plate which is newer than his 2006 Navara. He doesn't have a limited driving record as had insurance for 10 years with his previous company, but that was in the company's name, not his personal insurance. Even so, when he first got the navarra it wasn't that bad. in fact I'll look it up.(
Not the ones that slip in half I hope !!
Glad you getting it sorted.0 -
yes it is. different brand cars though, because the navarra had this rust problem until the changed the materials in 20015 and we couldn't afford a truck that new. Shame as I loved the NavarraWas this newer car the same model engine size spec etc if not your only £500 difference is irrelevant.........edit....just seen your reply that newer car is 5 years newer that will make big difference.....is it same size enginefoxy-stoat wrote: »Not the ones that slip in half I hope !!

No, the ones with the rusty underside :eek:0 -
Also, I DO shop around every year and still have found Direct Line cheaper every year. If not I have phoned them up to leave and they've changed my premium every time.
Annoyingly common, and not a sign of good service - if it was they'd just be quoting you the lower price in the first place.
As far as they're concerned the fact someone's "loyal" simply means they can probably get away with gouging them on price. If they get caught out they make a big display of offering the price they should have at the start as "goodwill" to a "valued customer".I have been a customer for many years. I guess that doesn't count for anything anymore these days.
Yes, it counts for a lot as far as they're concerned (see comment on earlier bit). Just not in the way you might think it should.0
