Currys/Creation finance not taking repayments

I took out an 18 month repayment plan with Currys (funded by Creation) for a laptop a few months ago. I was accepted for "Your Plan" and the repayments are £54 a month. Currys took all my bank details etc and I left the store with a brand new laptop. There is no payment holiday and I didn't sign any BNPL. Apart from the hard sell for various other extras which I declined, it was a straightforward experience. I have also double checked my plan, yes it's definitely 18 months repayments of £54, simple as that.

I have not heard anything from Creation and no repayments have been made. They haven't even set up a direct debit repayment at my bank, so I'm wondering, should I stay quiet and hopefully never be charged or is there massive surprise waiting for me at some stage in the future? I don't want to contact them about this nice error!:rotfl:

They will find out so if you are going to do that I would make the monthly repayments to a savings account so you have the money to pay them when they finally do ask.

Currys incompetence still surprises you ;)
  • Not really, I rarely buy there mostly because of their hard sell policy.

I've never felt any hard sell on extras and love their prices and extra discounts readily available.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

A few years ago I needed a hard drive at short notice, so popped into PC World late on a Saturday. At the checkout got the extended warranty hard sell which I resisted...until the manager offered to discount the hard drive by the amount of the warranty. Ironically a couple of years later the hard drive failed and I successfully got a replacement without any issues.

They do seem to have almost permanent sales.

When purchasing the laptop. I had to go through the motions.
    1. Insurance. Declined.
    2. Discounted Microsoft Office. Declined.
    3. Back up drive which would take a few hours. Declined, can do it myself.
    4. 32gb flash drive for £15 for backing up the drive. Declined.

    Phew. :rotfl:

I always image the hard drives,SSD to be safe. Seems like you got a good deal and landed on your feet.:)

Terrible that a money saving forum has turned in to an avoid paying debt forum. This site really attracts the chancers and beggars belief that people come on here like this OP to ask for tips on how to avoid paying what they owe - regardless if there is an error on the billing process. Even worse - people actually respond with tips. These days morality has gone out of the window!

Please readers don't indulge these people.
