    So the people who have short memories are the customers of hacked companies, on the premise they will soon forget about the hack and continue using the company.

    Yes, you can submit a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act, which obliges them to send you the personal data they hold relating to you, see https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-of-access/ for further details.
