MSE recommends a dud!

So MSE is offering me a switch to Economy Energy: a company with 79% Poor reviews and is being investigated by Ofgen! Saving me £56 a year and probably costing me unknown problems later. No thanks, I'll hang on for EDF's next tariff change.
Does anyone here actually check this stuff?
MSE haven't recommended this to you. The Cheap Energy Club provides a comparison of all the available tariffs, but makes no recommendation. The cheapest available tariff for you will appear at the top of the list, but there is no recommendation, and indeed they actually warn you about problems with this supplier. You are free to choose accordingly, having been given the information, but no recommendation.0 -

I think that is cheap points scoring on your part. No, MSE does not make it a recommendation, I agree. But this is a money saving site: surely, if there are suppliers with problems that may lead to customers losing money, the supplier in question should not be featured? It is a fact that some customers have reported loss of money and other problems.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I fear that you are being overly sensitive. I am not trying to score points, but rather making the important point that there is no recommendation involved in the CEC. As your entire complaint revolves around the conjecture that you have been recommended something, then that point is salient and, indeed, crucial. No, MSE does not make it a recommendation, I agree.
I'm glad that you agree, so your original post, you will admit then, is wrong. But this is a money saving site: surely, if there are suppliers with problems that may lead to customers losing money, the supplier in question should not be featured?
No, the whole point of the CEC is that it gives you a whole of the market comparison. Without this feature it would not be that much use.
The CEC does, however, provide the option to filter results according to customer feedback ratings; makes clear what ratings it has (based on MSE's own surveys); links to the feedback thread and does carry a very clear warning about this particular supplier and an Ofgem investigation. Customers are free to make use of all of hese features to make as informed a decision as they wish.It is a fact that some customers have reported loss of money and other problems.
Is it a fact that people have lost money? You are getting in to a pretty grey area here, and the specific details of what Economy Energy have or haven't done is open to debate at present. While some may report such losses this has yet to be proven.
Either way, it is also irrelevant, because the CEC makes customers aware of the issues.

I do not wish to engage in pointless argument with a determined pedant. Done with this.I think this job really needs

You set up a thread with a controversial (and factually incorrect + defamatory) title.I do not wish to engage in pointless argument with a determined pedant. Done with this.
Get lots of responses pointing out how mistaken you are and instead of either editing your title/post when getting put right your only response is this refusal to engage!0
