MSE News: MSE victory as Ofgem looks to compensate consumers for late switching bills

Yes, the wonders of cash flow! It would be interesting to know how quickly the final bill is produced when the customer owes money.Gerry1 said:
So that they can hang on to your credit balance for eight glorious weeks !Joe9090 said:
I know the above was written in 2018 but why does it now take up to six weeks for most suppliers to provide the final bill?System said:

Peoples Energy seem to be doing their best to ignore my requests for my compensate for the late bill. Finally issued after about 12 weeks.Ignored email (although I assume they read it as they generated the bill the following day) and ignored on Twitter.Thing is, I'd let it go but since they leaked my person info I'll keep in pushing for it.0

I switched gas and electricity from ?? to another supplier late last month via MSE cheap energy club; I pay by DD.I received a correct final gas bill on 09 April, but no electricty bill - I calculate it should be about £30. Both gas and electricity normally appear on the same bill.Today a Direct Debit from ?? was showing on my bank account it was for just over £21 less than the final gas bill. You cannot email ??, they have closed my on-line account so no webchat, and phoning was a disaster.I wonder if I will hear anything before the 6 week deadline!!0

I am not sure what use the compensation scheme is?If the company fails to communicate in any form which i am having trouble with, there is nobody to enforce the compensation.I believe the energy companies are self regulating on these compensation schemes. And ofgem just looks at the figures that the energy companies put in once a year!!0

The ombudsman's scheme is pointless. Due to reforms introduced by OFGEM in May last years energy companies have to refund you within 6 weeks of leaving after switching companies. They have to pay you automatic compensation if they fail to meet those deadlines.
I switched away 7 months ago but am still yet to receive the refund of my credit balance. I have gone through the ombudsman's scheme and they ordered the energy company Together Energy to refund me back in January, but they have no enforcement powers.
Together Energy are just ignoring the Ombudsman's orders.
Ofgem license these companies but they won't act on individual cases, only if a company shows a pattern of misbehaviour, and their interpretation of misbehaviour is something equivalent to the energy company murdering people. So basically like all these so called regulators they won't do anything.
More automatic compensation measures are pointless exercises to keep these useless regulators in jobs, nothing else.2 -

Just to update this, they did pay up once the deadline for issuing a deadlock letter came. I was tempted to push for the compensation for the compensation not being automatically paid as per Ofgem, however I figured I'd give them a break.
