Leave TSB?

  • Yet my own bank thinks I'm not creditworthy enough.
    .

I don't think it is as simple as that.

I have a credit card with TSB, but they didn't want my custom via a bank account.

I think the main reason to leave TSB would be to get hold of the switching or joining bonus they undoubtedly will be offering to non-customers once they sort things out

If you haven't had any problems, you're happy with the service, and the products offered then stay.

Personally, I think their credit card has become almost unusable - current statement availability out the window, cashback paid when they feel like it, both CSV and QIF transaction downloads broken (date stamps all one day earlier than the actual tranaction date, too difficult for me to post process and use). Only showing the last 20 transactions on the account, Direct debits screwed up.

On the current account side, they're paying 5% interest, for very little effort. The problem with QIF transaction downloads having no date field has been fixed (and was worked around by using CSV downloads).

So for me the current accounts are staying, the credit card is being parked at the end of the month (the spend gets shifted onto another card paying 0.5%). None of the accounts are being closed.

Your mileage may vary - My main account isn't with TSB, I have credit cards elsewhere. If all my eggs were in the TSB basket on 23rd April, I would have looked further afield by now.

I would have left after all those problems!
    I really was pretty lucky.
And this is just one of 4 current accounts my husband and I have so one of them will always be working :j

It comes down to confidence: What do YOU think? If you have confidence in TSB stay but if you think that there could be another "meltdown" leave and moving to another bank is easy with the 7-day Switch Service.

Looking at the replies in this thread it must be said what price the perks when you can't get at your savings and salary due to the bank melting down?

Personally, I left TSB at the start of Brexit because it isn't British and now I'm very glad that I left!

Lastly, a meltdown is what happens when legacy systems are tampered with!

Yes I agree it is worth staying for the interest rate.
We do have some back up accounts.
I can't believe that current accounts pay
more than savings accounts these days.
When I worked for Lloyds in the 80s there were fees on current accounts and no interest!
