I'll stay put for as long as they pay me 5% AER in their current accounts. As I use TSB for savings only, the interrupt has only been a minor annoyance. My view would probably be different if I had experienced major problems.

Interesting. I use their credit card for certain transactions as it is a 0% on purchases. Never been able to use it contactlessly and TSB didn't seem interested in sorting it out, but the advice of having an alternative is good on both card and current account.

The 0% on mine finished at the end of March before the meltdown - balance paid on the the last day the 0% ended, zero interest paid. There's no way I could have done that with the current shenanigans.

I used to use the credit card for every last little transaction, but that that kind of usage combined with "only the last 20 transactions" meant that I diverted my every day spend elsewhere, and I've banked the 1% cashback by buying gift cards at the two supermarkets I usually buy my stuff to top me up to a monthly £500 spend, and I'm getting out of dodge unless they make me an offer...

BTW never had contactless with my TSB credit card, except with Google Pay.

Personally, we have not had any major problem with TSB but with the meltdown farce ongoing is it safer to leave?

It comes down to confidence: What do YOU think? If you have confidence in TSB stay but if you think that there could be another "meltdown" leave and moving to another bank is easy with the 7-day Switch Service.

Looking at the replies in this thread it must be said what price the perks when you can't get at your savings and salary due to the bank melting down?

Personally, I left TSB at the start of Brexit because it isn't British and now I'm very glad that I left!

Lastly, a meltdown is what happens when legacy systems are tampered with!

Personally, I wouldn' t have all my money in one bank (or banking group) whether it be TSB or any other. It's asking for problems.

What on earth does European owned bank have to do with Brexit? Brexiteers want to make the most of globalisation and last time I looked at my globe, it included Europe.

I'm leaving after 4 years with TSB. Not because of the recent IT meltdown, but rather because they refused to issue a credit card to me. After 4 years of using their debit card on daily basis. It is my first and only bank in the UK since I arrived in 2014. It was really a big disappointment to find out that I was literally pre-declined in their system.
Not to mention that they blocked my online banking when I tried to send money to my friend. They don't have email and they were unable to help me in branch. They handed me their phone. Of course, no one picked it up. So I went home and spent about 1 hour ringing which costed me over ten pounds. That was the last drop.

Oh, I don't care about the 5% AER. Yesterday I opened FlexDirect in Nationwide that pays 5% as well, but on balances up to £2500. At least for the first 12 months. Later I will switch TSB to First Direct, so I will have at least two bank accounts. But if possible, I'll try to open another one or two. I just discovered an article titled "Handelsbanken: the great bank you've never heard of", so I will probably try to open my third account with them :)

They have a very poor idea of customer relations. The above is very similar to my experience with them, but luckily it is/was not my only account.

BTW, Nationwide credit-checked me during my online application for their current account and they immediately offered me credit card with £1700 credit limit, which I accepted (applied for). About two months ago I was also approved for Asda credit card with £1500 credit limit which I use and pay off in full each month. Yet my own bank thinks I'm not creditworthy enough. What a shame! I need to say that my TSB current account balance has never dropped to zero or anywhere near zero. Never ever. It's actually steadily growing. I never had any unpaid debts, CCJs, or anything like that. I used to pay everything with my TSB debit card, which means, they know virtually everything about me. In fact, I'm an ideal customer. TSB simply sucks.
