  • We have a similar situation and pay "site fees" for our residential park home (no not a caravan), this amounts to £32 a week and 100% of that is paid as HB whilst we qualify and has done now for 7 years.

Bristolman, have you thought about a caravan or a park home?

At least you would feel secure and know it was 100% yours

Except you still have to pay park fees and when the caravan gets older then you can be told you have to replace it. Which if you don't have the money leaves you back at square one minus the money you put up in the first place.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You won!!!8217;t get it as it!!!8217;s not rent. Plus you say it pays for your bills. Housing benefit doesn!!!8217;t cover bills anyways. It would be unfair for those who get housing benefit and doesn!!!8217;t go to bills and then you get it towards bills.

You say it is more secure than renting. Well I don!!!8217;t think so as you still need to find money to pay this charge which looks like your struggling to/

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

My mum does own her flat and gets help with service charges from HB. She is retired and on a pension. She always payed it herself until someone told her.

It might make a difference if the leasehold is owned by a council/Housing Association? As my mothers is.
