Central locking problem.

I have a Vauxhall Zafira, which has central locking. The remote locking doesnt work as i had a lot of problems with the key fob, and didnt want to spend over £100 on a new one, when i am quite happy to open the door manually.
What normally happens is i use the key in the drivers side, and it opens all the doors, but what is happening now, is it is only opening the drivers door, and none of the others. The passanger side behind the driver opens manually had that prob for a while) but the passanger side and the one behind that will not open at all now, either with me turning the key, or manually trying to lift them up.

What can i do, or do i need to take it to a garage?

  • sit in the car, with all doors and windows closed... turn ignition on so the dash lights up etc. then with the key still in ignition, press the lock button on the remote.

    This may reset it...

Harveybobbles is on the right track. You may need hold the lock button down for a few secs until the doors lock and unlock. After this the central locking will be working again... assuming the battery in the fob isn't too tired :)

At the moment there is no battery in the fob, as the fob was causing the doors to lock themselves on their own, and the garage quoted me a silly price for a new key.
But, tomorrow i will put a battery in, and try that - Thank you both.
  • And the out come....?

As for the car locking its self - ,ost cars do that if you unlock them and leave them for a while.
