    Good morning

I didn't get my cards made yesterday so I have to do that today instead.

    I will also...
Pick more strawberries from the garden (like lots of you)
Have coffee with a friend at my house instead of in a coffee shop
Update the accounts after a visit to the market and supermarket (spent more than I wanted but all three of my grown up children have come home to roost)
Put my bags of coins in the bank then move it to my savings
Find out how much it will cost to service DH's bike for his birthday present
Go to my cleaning job this afternoon

    And I think that's it.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you're all up to today. And thank you for making me feel so welcome :):)

    Morning Money Savers,
    Key tasks on today's list:
*Make dough for pizza & a batch of rolls (will be using some of the leftover ham hock divvied up yesterday on the pizza).
*Cut more lettuce from the garden.
*Check veggie garden for any pests/problems.
*Print out docs for tomorrow's meetings - will be using clean-on-one-side scrap A4 paper.
*Put a colour on my yukky roots - saved half the previous pack so will mix that up & won't need to buy a new pack of dye until next time.
*Aim to peg out final laundry of the week & get it sufficiently dry to be able to clear all the ironing later this afternoon.
*Stitch some more of the gift I'm working on.
*Start thinking about next week's meal plans.
    *Check for surveys.
*Freeze a couple of l/o pittas towards another meal.
*A bit of free fitness sweeping courtyard & re-arranging pots & stuff plus a declutter - for a new look.
    Wishing everyone a productive day,
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Hey folks - been MIA. Home and work a bit hectic (just busy not bad)

Hope everyone ok - am going to try and catch up with the thread. Keeping the faith (ish!)

I met the very lovely Pippi Longstocking who used to be very active on here (and is still keeping the MSE faith). She had been talking about the lovely garden she maintains for her work and advertising the garden on the other-cyber-platform-some-of-us-use so Mrs D and I went over to the other end of Scotland to visit it yesterday and surprised her.

  • Morning :D I am soooooo relieved! I didn't mention it, but I've had a health scare recently as I found a lump. Had to wait 2 weeks for appt at the breast clinic which was yesterday when I got the all clear :j that 2 week wait was pretty tough a couple of days
so now that's all cleared up I can resume with my life!

    Today:

    * going to the allotment for a few hours with my friend (who I'm sharing it with) it's really starting to take shape now :D
    * more cutting of pattern & start constructing :j
    * oh has printed off another pattern for me to make 2 pencil skirts in jersey. I've never sewn with knits before but am looking forward to increasing my skills!
    * just making some strawberry jam to use up strawbs from Sunday's batch. Only 130gms of strawberries but best not to waste! Smells gorgeous!
    * go through cc statement...
    * speak to dd about plans together for next week
    * an hour on the house - I am determined to use my days off wisely and not spend all of my time a) online or b) cleaning!
    * return madam's library books and get more
    * might do onepoll, might not though....
    * games afternoon with madam after school
    * going to a friend's tonight for dinner and catch up. There are 3 of us who worked together from 2003-2006 and we still get together every so often :D

    ok that's my lot!

    Ok! Have read through!

If anyone is ever near my neck of the woods, feel free to msg me and we'll go for a (frugal) coffee!

Today we are going to see Bill Bailey. Very excited. We are going for dinner out but have sussed the menu and there's a pre-theatre deal. Two courses for £13.50. Website unclear as to whether it's starter+main or starter/pudding+main. Both listed. Will check. If it's starter/pudding, we'll split a starter and a pudding between us.

I'm also taking a half day due to Mr Bailey but not going to swan over to town until later so we def have lunch at home. Have taken some wraps out to defrost.

    The mission:
    • B/L from stores. Dinner as planned above.
    • Gym at lunchtime - new programming starting to feel enjoyable
    • Sewed up a hole in my palazzo trousers - done
    • Cut the grass and rake lawn
    • Water garden. Been about 2 weeks without rain now!
    • Pick some strawberries for afters. We don't have a mega-crop but I hope to get a few nibbles.
    • Cut up and stew gifted rhubarb
    • Pop a load of bits into the freezer that weren't eaten as expected - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
Will add anything if I think of it

    have a good one all
