Just decluttering a fit of the jitters - meet'n'greet visitor due at 14:00 :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Good luck with the meet 'n' greet LW.
Weeding done in back garden and some of driveway. I've harvested broad beans, a courgette, and strawberries (I've just eaten those).
Off out now.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Rain has stopped play, but hopefully it will rain enough so that I don't have to water the pots later. It will need to go some to fill the two empty water butts though.
This might mean that I have to do HHI and / or venture into the utility room to restore some order.
I hope the meet and greet is going well, LW.0 -
Nice, peaceful night here - other than the moron who decided to slam next door's front door at about 2am. Seriously, these are timber framed properties - when that happens, the entire house shakes - they may be excellently soundproofed so you hardly hear a thing, but the physical sensation doesn't need hearing (and might answer why Himself wakes up at silly hours).
Spent a couple of hours rearranging stuff in the kitchen, as it just didn't work where it was - the fridge has been scooted into the gap where the dishwasher used to be before it went kaput, for example, and the mini, pretty rubbish freezer that the seal went on years ago, has been relocated to the top of the TD (which won't be on more than a couple of times between now and winter anyway).
I think I should probably get a new freezer - an undercounter size one could potentially sit on top of the TD if there was a lump of wood in between to insulate it/push the warm air out to the side. And then I could fill at least one drawer with assorted bags of frozen fruit & veg, one with meat/protein sources and one for Himself's carb fests, HM soup and ice cubes. Which could put an end to always needing to go out to get something.
Just got to find one for a pittance, now.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Kitchen re cleaned
I tried going out for some shopping last night, but realised within a few minutes that I wasn't going to manage it and headed back home.
Weirdly enough, I seem to feel better when I haven't eaten. Which is ridiculous and cannot continue.
Himself got back from the latest gig a short time ago. Seemed happy in himself, albeit not looking forward to a DJ gig he's booked for this evening - but it's paying towards his lad's new school uniform, so he's doing it nonetheless.
Having checked Freecycle first, I then used his slight disorientation about the kitchen - he was impressed - to 'ask' him whether I should see whether I get approved for credit for a Miele freezer because the payments would be less than my mobile phone which ends in a couple of month/I don't need to upgrade right now - or bang out a lump sum for a really cheap one. Sensibly enough, he agreed that the credit one would be worth looking at, as the quality of the vacuum cleaner is miles above anything else he's ever used.
I got approved- had a weird set of security questions, though - they included giving the nearest age range for my nephew, whom I've never ever lived with and last saw about 25 years ago. Must be the unusual surname and town that flagged it up - but it's a bit creepy, nonetheless.
Anyhow, Himself has been dispatched to work (and with somebody who has requested Old Skool Hip Hop and Jungle in the playlist, it's going to be work) and I'm left planning how to fill 90l of poshy-posh freezer come Wednesday.
I bet this is where the microwave goes pouffff....I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Good Morning All
I have been up since 5 with DS, so have been making the most of these early hours! I put the kitchen to bed last night, so have been juggling laundry and have a load to peg on the line shortly. I have also written a mahoosive list for this week, which all needs to be done in and amongst some paid stuff, and written DH a list for today. Yes, I know it's Father's Day, but he's away for one week after today and there are certain things I need him to do
I am finalising one job application form as I type, it is for admin in a local school office, any tips would be greatly appreciated. I am going to email the head shortly and ask if I can arrange to visit the school this week (shows willing and interest I think/hope).
Will check back in later, have lovely days all xxxMFW

ATB big up your IT skills - mine is that I can use Excel, although the ordering of stuff is done through a non-user-friendly system called SAP. And be aware of the new GDPR act. We now have to send encrypted emails! It's what I'm doing temporarily as sickness cover. Morning all.
It's all about the dogs here today, walkies, grooming and dog show.
Out tonight for a meal for Father's Day.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
They'll be looking for somebody who can juggle conflicting demands (urgent phone calls, a huge photocopying job and then a child turns up at the window having bashed their head and feels sick), spot safeguarding issues and be absolutely clear what to do - a safe answer when asked is that, if you haven't had safeguarding training before (because if you have, you'd refer to your previous experience of procedures in your answer), that you'd obviously listen to what they say, you can't ever promise to keep it a secret and then you would immediately refer it to the person responsible for Safeguarding.
You might be asked what you would do if a parent turned up demanding to see the Head/a teacher right away, or if somebody turned up to collect a child but they weren't on the list of people allowed to and you haven't heard anything from the primary carer. (Clue - the answer is not 'ask the child'. They might be a Looked After Child, there could be family issues, it could be a person known to the child trying their luck).
And whilst schools often use a system called SIMS (Schools Information Management System, I think), it's basically just another database - if you've used one anywhere, the principles are generally the same - big up your ability to learn new packages and adapt to changes and willingness to take First Aider training/whether you've had to deal with other people's children before, especially if they got hurt.
And yes, as GDPR rules are all so new, they'll be impressed by somebody who understands roughly what it's about - it's things like ensuring your screen is locked if you're away from it, not carrying identifiable information or sensitive data on random memory sticks that could be lost, following the rules precisely for phone calls and conversations (eg, not telling a caller, who could be anyone, a parent/carer or a colleague 'they're sitting with the Safeguarding Lead at the moment because they've got loads of bruises on their arm and said Daddy did it').
It's a large part common sense and a large part knowing what you can and cannot say/do. The latter is through training, the former you just have.

I think I'm going to wake Himself up. He's had enough sleep now (was back at about 3am). And I want a bacon roll.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
