How is my driving?

This afternoon I followed a Tesco lorry from Thetford to Diss and on a 60MPH road he did no more than 40MPH resulting in a very long tail back and he did not attempt to allow anyone to pass.

On the back it said "How is my driving phone 0800 266266" I was sorely tempted to phone but thought it may be a bit too nasty.

Does anyone ever phone these numbers that I have seen on many other vehicles or is just people who want to be nasty and vindictive?

It wasn't a 60 mph road for him, only 50 mph
  • Maybe the load he was carrying was a delicate one.

Lorries are not cars and should be given extra consideration(just my opinion).

Hows YOUR driving? Quite poor I'd say given you're completely unaware that not every vehicle has the same legal maximum speed limit in a national speed limit area.

Until fairly recently the maximum speed limit for a vehicle exceeding 7.5 tonnes on a single carriageway was 40MPH, 50MPH on dual carriageways and 60MPH on a motorway. That was raised a couple of years ago to 50,60,60. However unlike your car 44 tonne lorries can't always go down roads at their maximum legal limit the same as you can due to the slight fact they have up to 28 tonnes of goods on the back which can move around if you drive too silly.

It isn't just your opinion. It actually states many times in the Highway Code things like allowing large vehicles extra space at junctions and roundabouts and taking into consideration things like the amount of space they need to manoeuvre, that they can't change direction or stop as fast as a car, that they have blind spots.

I added the my opinion part knowing the HC guidance.

But as you know many people think that they are more important on the roads, giving no leeway to others when it puts everyone at risk.

Slow moving farm vehicles are required to do so, there is no requirement for a truck to do so.

You sound like an aggressive, impatient driver.
