Today's switch of provider of electricity may seem a little mor expensive.
Though looking forward to 5K nectar points in a few weeks.
Let's hope SSE provide fantastic service

Forgot to ask do I have to remember to cancel SP dd in a few weeks.
Hope SP issue final bill soon or at least within 30 days switch time.

I always cancel DD when leaving a supplier, too much hassle to get my money back otherwise.

The way I figure it they are a multibillion corporation and I am lil ol me, I think they can afford it.

I pay immediately via home banking when they produce an accurate bill based on real readings which I do not mind providing.

Some suppliers have still sent me an estimated bill even when I provided reading to old and new.

There's usually no need.
If done correctly, the supplier will cancel it for you by notifying the bank when they make their final collection.
If not, they will just stop collecting anyway.
(if you see they haven;t collected for say 3 months and the DD mandate is still live, then you can cancel)

If you cancel the DD straight away, you may find difficulty in being returned any credit that may be owed to you on the final bill .... or worse still, the supplier may reinstate the DD so they can pay you, so you'll have to cancel it again.

Cancelling a DD before the final bill has been settled can also sometimes cause a supplier's computer to go into overdrive, and slap you on a more expensive tariff than you were on, as you are no longer paying by DD.
This may be able to be corrected, but it's just even more hassle.

MSE also advise that you do not cancel your old DD straight after going through the switching application.

You will always remain protected by the direct debit guarantee, when you leave the DD active, in the unlikley event the supplier does take any money incorrectly.

Some very detailed assistance.
Sse.com was working again a few hours later and also advises against cancellling direct Debit.
Let's hope this switch goes through in mentioned 30 days approx.

Logged onto SP today switch to SSE could be live from 27th June.
Is it sensible to take another meter reading today or shall I wait until nearer 27th.
Nice SP website update explaining each step inc' timescales.
SSE site confirms account is 'active' and one or two e-mails confirming switch request.

I've since submitted SP readings via morrisonsd meter team.
Only need sse to request readings, hopefully asap before 27th June..

DD from sse today in post
I since provided meter readings as SP online confirmed they have my latest readings a few days earlier.
All setup for 28th June to sse.
Seems a reasonably smooth switch.
I hope to update this thread in a few weeks on receipt of 5k Nextar points.

What was last advised as 27th or 28th is ending in disappointment this morning.
Your supply hasn!!!8217;t started with us yet.

Sat 7th July
Sse.com refuses to recognise I've provided meter readings approx 3 times -twice online and today 2nd time via telephone.
Hopefully this will get fixed soon.
Once online is upto date, I can begin to ignore any temptation to make a rapid return to SP.
Have any mser's made the switch to sse-if so when did their online account display readings -was it days weeks or months
