Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi Monnagran, it's going very slowly... but I'm determined to get it cleared as quickly as I can! I've just realised what's happened re: lowering this months minimum payment.. it means I'm not overpaying anything! Crapitall one have done the same! My minimum amount for C1 was £160, I paid £100 on Friday, just checked the app and now the minimum payment is £60! So I'm not actually overpaying anything! Sneaky b*ggers! So will have to pay another £100 off to make a difference. I might start making my extra debt repayments AFTER the minimum amount has gone out so I know where I stand.
I see what you're saying about the 'treat' but I feel like I've treated myself far too much and that's why I am where I am...! I'd rather use the extra money to make more headway in paying debt as I never have a spare £500, when I've paid my aqua card off I'll treat myself! :)

    Good girl.

They certainly are sneaky so-and-sos. You do that. Make the minimum payment first and then make the overpayment.
It might be slow progress but at least it's progress and that horrific amount of debt is slowly being whittled away. I can't wait until you kiss goodbye to that Aqua debt and start on the Capital.

I'm only moving a few miles away. I do love living in a village just yards away from the beach, but it is totally impractical when you are pretty ancient and have given up driving.
I'm moving to a boring but practical 2xbedroom bungalow. Basically it's a shoe box with a roof, but at least it won't be as expensive to heat and it is on the outskirts of Ryde, so plenty more buses and closer to shops, doctors etc.
I won't be moving till January now. I bet it snows!

Morning! Just home from work, I'm shattered! It doesn't help I'm not sleeping much as noisy PITB housemate keeps waking me up by slamming doors, thundering up and down the stairs, clattering in the kitchen etc etc... I'm actually thinking I might have to move.
Anyhoo, promo changeover at work tomorrow night so that's another 12 hour shift and I'll have done 48 hours... will see how I feel on Wednesday but I might do a wee 9pm til 5am.
Get paid on the 20th December so trying to get the OT in before the cut off date!

Ah at least you'll be nearer to civilisation GrannyMonna! And cheaper bills too? My ex and I visited Shanklin one August years ago... I love the IOW! The weather was beautiful, we hired a car and drove round the island, lots of lovely restaurants... I think I put 2 stone on in 2 weeks!

It's easily done B17c. You should try living here, no wonder Slimming World has a branch on every street corner!

I know you are absolutely driven by the need to get these debts off your conscience, but don't ruin your health in the process. Would earplugs help you sleep? Or a plastic bag over your housemates head?

Hi B17c, I have just read your thread from the start; you are very dedicated!

My tip: have you heard the term 'Tilly Tidy'? It comes from one of the forum members, Tilly, who sent every odd amount to her debt, paying it down at an unexpected superspeed. She would round down her account every day/ every other day, so if she had 6.78 in her account, she would sent either 0.78, 1.78 or 6.78 to her debt (depending on what else she needed that money for).

I have to second an earlier poster about the minimum payments on your credit cards: they don't mean a thing. Please go and find the interest rates, and then make a decision on how to snowball.

Thanks Siebrie! No I hadn't heard of that but it's a good idea! I think there's an app that does that for you too now, I think... I've joined Plum on Facebook messenger and that sends you a daily message of any spends and your bank balance, and asks you if you want to save any money that day (mine is set on save £15)
I've sold 4 things on eBay and made £60 so that will go on Aqua probably!
I shall be making a corned beef hash today and a cheesy tuna pasta bake

Monnagran a plastic bag over his head would be perfect! I'm actually thinking of seeking advice about this situation as he really is a danger to live with, he keeps leaving the gas on, or the oven on! Ear plugs I've tried and can't get on with :(

2 hours sleep... you guessed it, front door was slammed, what can only be described as an elephant running up and down the stairs, bashing about in the kitchen....

The landlord should know about your housemate's cavalier attitude to the gas, after all, it is his house under threat.
I suggest that you log every time you are disturbed by him....e.g. 10.15am, slammed door, 11.10am, stamping up the stairs, - and shove a copy under his door each night, it may bring it home to him how his unthinking actions are affecting you.
Does he not go to work every day? Keep your copy of the log, it may come in useful. You cannot go on without proper sleep.

Yes, true, my other flatmate reckons they won't care so long as the rent is paid but they might care if the house blew up... he does work mom to fri 10amtil 4pm which means he gets home about 5pm ish and the whole house shakes when he slams the door on the way in... I understand the slamming of the door to go out as it's a tricky latch and if you don't shut it properly if you push it it opens again, but you don't need to slam it coming in !!!!!!!!

Anyhoo, bread and butter pudding, corned beef hash and cheesy tuna pasta thingy batch cooked today, will try to think of more things to make tomorrow so I have plenty in the fridge, I'm picking up an extra shift for the next month or so (was asked by management) so I'll be doing fri to tues 9pm til 6am (Sunday 6 til 6) so that'll be extra pennies!
Off to bed now, need to pop to the post office tomorrow and post my eBay sales, made £60 this week! :)

A doorlatch not working properly is something for the landlord to fix. Give him a call.
